Chemistry
Winter Semester
Brief description
The course builds on the lecture Physical Chemistry 2. The focus is on the thermodynamic description of electrolyte solutions and transport processes, the description of electrode reaction kinetics, and electrochemical methods used in practice.
For whom
Students at the beginning of master studies with completed bachelor degree.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to have a background in general chemistry, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, fundamentals of chemical equilibrium and kinetics, and properties of solutions. A working knowledge of basic physics, particularly electricity and magnetism (Ohm’s law, electric field, capacitance, current, and voltage), is also required. In addition, students should possess adequate mathematical skills necessary for quantitative analysis.
STAG information system: KFC/ELC
Brief description
The lecture provides an overview of the molecular, biological, and chemical principles involved in modern drug development aimed at treating cancer, leukaemia, and viral and bacterial diseases.
For whom
For students at the beginning of master studies with a completed bachelor's degree with a background in Organic chemistry and Biochemistry.
Prerequisites
Understanding the fundamental mechanisms of organic reactions and basic metabolic pathways is essential.
STAG information system: OCH/KBC
Brief description
Introduces organometallic chemistry (WS) and transition metal catalysis (SS) as tools for designing complex organic syntheses, especially of natural products.
For whom
Students at the beginning of master studies with completed bachelor degree.
Prerequisites
Solid foundation in organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
STAG information system: OCH/OOS
Summer Semester
Brief description
Theoretical and practical knowledge of flow chemistry to design micro-flow rectors and perform the flow reactions to scale up the process while knowing the limitations and advantages of flow synthesis.
For whom

Prerequisites
Basic mathematical analysis, basics of chemistry and mole concept.
STAG information system: AFC/FLCH
Brief description
Explores enzymatic mechanisms and biosynthesis of secondary metabolites through the lens of organic reaction design.
For whom
Students at the beginning of master studies with completed bachelor degree.
Prerequisites
