The Rector of Palacký University in Olomouc announces the 5th year of the competition for the award of the UP Junior Grant.
This prestigious competition is intended for young academic and scientific staff with foreign experience who want to establish a new research group or laboratory at UP and develop their own independent scientific programme. The grant is also important for preparing an international research project under the HORIZON EUROPE programme or its successor - the EU's 10th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
Who can apply?
The principal investigator of the project can be a scientist, academic or researcher who:
- holds a Ph.D. degree,
- not more than 8 years since the distinction of the PhD,
- has not reached the age of 38 years at the date of submission of the project proposal,
- has a minimum of 3 months' experience of a traineeship abroad,
- has an excellent professional record and is actively involved in international cooperation.
The proposer does not have to be an employee of UP at the time of submission, but must meet all the formal conditions set out in the internal standard, and at the same time commits to submit a project application to the HORIZON EUROPE programme, or to the follow-up 10th Framework Programme starting in 2028, no later than in the third year of the project.
The duration of the project is set at 36 months. The project team may include other UP academic and scientific staff, students, or university employees.

Project proposals can be submitted in one of the following areas:
- natural sciences, mathematics, and information science,
- medical sciences and biomedicine,
- humanities and social sciences.
