The main attention is paid to general characteristics of fungal organisms, their evolution and speciation, basic problems of classification and taxonomy, cytology, morphology, reproduction and genetics, physiology, metabolism, ecology, importance and utilization of fungal organisms (mainly in biotechnology).

Brief description
This course explores the integration of GIS with environmental modeling through theoretical lectures and practical laboratory sessions. Students will master fundamental modeling concepts and gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software. Practical applications are drawn from diverse fields, including geomorphology, hydrology, atmospheric science and landscape ecology.

Basic principles of molecular biotechnology, methods of molecular biotechnology, fundamentals of production of commercial products and therapeutics using genetically engineered microorganisms.

Summer Semester

Brief description
The course inform the students with definition of phytopathology, selected phytopathological terms, history and importance of phytopathology and classification of plant diseases, attention is paid on biotic agents of diseases (viruses, viroids, bacteria, fungi, protozoan, nematodes and parasitic plants), course of infection process, defence strategies of plants to pathogens; genetics in the interaction host and pathogen and plant protection.

The main attention is paid to anatomy, morphology, reproduction, life strategies among the most important representatives of the main groups – Algae, Fungi, SAR and Plants. Practical exercises include demonstration of living or conserved material, excursion to the Botanical garden of Palacký University.
