Miscellaneous
Structures of the Microworld
Starting today, you can visit the new exhibition Structures of the Microworld in the Josef Otruba Hall at the Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science. The exhibition opening will take place at 17:30.
The central theme of the exhibition is the electron microscope – a cutting-edge scientific instrument that allows us to view objects of minute dimensions, such as viruses, bacteria, nanostructures, and the fine surfaces of materials. It can reveal not only their external appearance, but also their internal structures, which remain hidden to the human eye. The author of the exhibition, Václav Svoboda, presents electron microscopy as a means of visual art. He leaves the images in their natural black-and-white form or digitally colors them to highlight the aesthetics of details and structures, especially in plant slides.
The exhibition will run until 17 April 2026, and is open on weekdays until 16:00. It is held in cooperation with the Department of Biophysics of the Faculty of Science.
