The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) announces a one-stage public tender in research, development and innovation within the “Applied Research Program of the Ministry of Agriculture for the period 2017 – 2025, „ZEMĚ”,“ with the beginning of projects solution in 2023. TA CR – TREND Program, PP1: Announcement of the 6th public tender

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) has announced the sixth public tender of the TREND Program, PP1 “Technology Leaders”. It is a selection of project proposals aimed at supporting the creation of science and research (S&R) results and their use for their own business activities in companies that already have experience in conducting research and development with their own capacities or in companies that have experience in purchasing S&R services from research organizations but have not yet developed own S&R activity. The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic has announced a public tender in research and experimental development TREND – subprogram 1 – “Technology leaders” focusing on the development of 5G technologies and higher. MI – announcement of the first public tender in research, experimental development and innovation – OPSEC

The Ministry of the Interior (MI) of the Czech Republic informs about the announcement of the first public tender in research, experimental development and innovation – OPSEC. The main goal is to systematically stimulate and develop the interest of the research and innovation sphere in participating in solving security challenges for modern society and thus form the basis for the development of competitive security innovations. MF – announcement of the 4th open call from the Bilateral Relations Fund

The Ministry of Finance (MF) – National Contact Point for the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021 has announced the fourth Open Call for Proposals for Bilateral Initiatives from the Bilateral Relations Fund under the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021. MEYS – Mobilities Czech Republic-Austria/Germany/France 2023-2024

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) has announced calls for proposals for joint Czech-Austrian/German/French research projects with a solution period of 2023-2024. Call texts including forms for applicants can be found on the faculty’s Projects website or on the website of the ministry (CR-AT/CR-DE/CR-FR). Faculty deadline is on May 23, 2022. MEYS – Call for proposals for the František Běhounek Award in 2022

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) is announcing the 11th year of the František Běhounek Award competition for the promotion and popularization of Czech science and the spreading of the good name of the Czech Republic in the European Research Area (ERA). The prize can be awarded to a scientific personality who works in basic or applied research, development or academia, graduated from a Czech university or works in a research or educational institution in the Czech Republic, or can demonstrate active and successful participation in the European or international cooperation project(s) taking place in the European Research Area in the field of research, experimental development and innovation in the last five years. The prize takes the form of a diploma signed by the Minister and is accompanied by a financial reward of CZK 250,000. More information can be found on the faculty's Projects website (in Czech).

MEYS – Award of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports for extraordinary results in research, experimental development and innovation in 2022

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports accepts proposals for the Award of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports for extraordinary results in research, experimental development and innovation achieved by prominent scientists in 2022 no later than August 31, 2022 until 16:00. Deadline for delivery to the Department of Project Support to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz) is August 24, 2022. The proposal is submitted by the statutory body or the representative of the recipient of research, experimental development and innovation support provided by the MEYS by sending electronic documents via the MEYS data box. MEYS – 9th joint call within the European Interest Group for cooperation with Japan (EIG CONCERT Japan): "Design of Materials with Atomic Precision"

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports informs about the announcement of the 9th joint call within the European Interest Group for Cooperation with Japan (EIG CONCERT Japan) on the topic "Design of Materials with Atomic Precision". This joint call stems from the global need to develop new materials with atomic precision that will take a step forward in the field of multifunctional design and the development of advanced materials for versatile social and industrial applications. The 9th joint call was announced on Monday May 9, 2022, on the website http://www.concert-japan.eu/spip.php?article90 with a deadline on Monday July 18, 2022 at 10:00 and with the announcement of the results in December 2022. Deadline for submission to the Department of Project Support to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz) is July 11, 2022. More information can be found on the faculty or ministry websites (in Czech).

Visegrad Fund

Another opportunity for submitting applications to the VF is until October 1, 2022 by 12:00. Applications are submitted electronically via MyVisegrad. Types of grants including the conditions can be found on the faculty’s Projects website or on the Visegrad Fund website. An online seminar will take place at the Faculty of Science during June 2022, summarizing the conditions and rules for VF grant applicants.

INTERREG DANUBE – 1st CALL

Interreg DANUBE is preparing to announce the 1st call for September 2022. In the first call, 50% of the total budget (EUR 37.5 million) will be allocated. More information will be available during June 2022 on the faculty's Projects website in the EU Projects section.

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2022 (MSCA-PF) – call open

A call for European and global postdoctoral projects aimed at researcher mobility will be open until September 14, 2022. It is intended for young researchers who either at least defended their dissertation at the time of the closing of the call, or have achieved a maximum of 8 years from obtaining a Ph.D. (time spent e.g. on maternity leave or long-term incapacity for work and for researchers who have chosen a host institution in Europe or researchers from Europe who have chosen a host institution in a third country (i.e. not a member or associated country) can be deducted).

What can be the duration of the project?

  • 12 – 24 months

What chance to succeed do I have?

  • High – why?
  • projects that reach a score of at least 70% in the evaluation process, but cannot be funded from the MSCA-PF program due to capacity reasons, can choose to participate in ERA Fellowships evaluation in projects and thus achieve the funding (applies to European trips and arrivals from and to the Czech Republic)
  • projects that reach a score of at least 70% in the evaluation process, but cannot be funded by either MSCA-PF or ERA Fellowships have the opportunity to obtain funding under the national program OP JAK

Evaluation of courses

With the end of the semester, we would like to ask you to share your views on teaching anonymously. Take part in traditional student evaluations! Completing of the online questionnaire will take you only a few minutes and you can use it to influence the form of study programmes and courses in the future. The evaluation is carried out in an electronic form and you can evaluate until September 6, 2022.

Erasmus+ in the winter semester 2022/2023

Information on the possibilities of Erasmus + study stays for the upcoming winter semester 2022/2023 can be found on this website (in Czech).

We remind you that all student mobility must be reported in advance to Mrs. Dana Gronychová by e-mail: dana.gronychova@upol.cz. Otherwise, the trip will not be recorded in the STAG system and will not be displayed on the Diploma Supplement.

State doctoral examination and dissertation defense

When submitting your dissertation or application for the state doctoral examination, adhere to the requirements and deadlines listed on the website in the section for Doctoral Study.

CRYTUR Award

The Crytur company, in cooperation with the CareerMarket portal, has announced the ninth year of the CRYTUR Award competition for the best diploma thesis in materials science. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2022. The thesis must be prepared in Czech, Slovak or English at one of the Czech or Slovak universities. The submitted diploma thesis must deal with materials sciences (study of physical and chemical properties of materials, technology of processing and preparation of materials, application of materials in physical disciplines), must be submitted for defense in the relevant academic year with the expected date of defense in the period from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022. Financial rewards in the total amount of CZK 90,000 have been prepared for the authors and supervisors of the three best works.

Science for the Earth – competition

Science for the Earth is a competition organized by the National Museum of Agriculture in cooperation with the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences for the best bachelor's, master's or doctoral thesis on a topic related to agriculture. The competition is announced focusing on agricultural topics, with two current topics being preferred in 2022: Traditional Fishing and Aquaculture and Common and Non-Traditional Cereals. The deadline for sending the application is June 30, 2022. More information about the competition can be found at www.vedaprozemi.cz (in Czech).

Children’s Day with the Faculty of Science

We cordially invite all “faculty” children and their parents or grandparents to an afternoon full of adventure, which will take place on June 1, 2022 from 15:30 to 17:30 behind the faculty building in the Envelopa campus. A rich program is prepared for them on the occasion of International Children’s Day. The children can look forward to various competitions and games, a bouncy castle, balloon modelling or face painting.

Saturdays with robots

During the Saturdays with Robots event, visitors will walk through the Fort Science with the talking robot named Fort, who will ask them various tricky questions and the answers to which can be found in the individual exhibitions. They can also look forward to playing with the micro:bit – a microcomputer that literally fits in your pocket. Through simple tasks, children get acquainted with the concept of programming and try it out for themselves. For example, they will learn to light a heart-shaped LED matrix. Children will be able to connect, without complicated soldering, electrical circuits, without which no good robot can be, and even set up a traffic light themselves. The program will also include popular 'ozobots', which are small robots that can be programmed using drawn lines and color codes. Join the event this Saturday, June 4, from 10:00 to 17:00.

Science Fair

After the covid break, the Science Fair (formerly the Science and Research Fair) – one of the largest popularization events at our faculty for schools and the general public – will take place again this year. The event will be on June 17, 2022 from 9:00 to 15:00. In order to participate in the fair program, please fill out a short form (in Czech).

Fort Science

The Fort Science has prepared the Health Fair, which will be taking place on June 17 and 18. Interactive stands will be prepared in the exhibitions and Laudon Hall – examination of pigment marks, measurement of fat and sugar in the body, determination of blood groups, dental hygiene, how our body ages or resuscitation of adults and children. The event is free as part of the regular entrance fee to the exhibitions.

PosPos

All faculty staff, doctoral students and seniors of the faculty are cordially invited to the “Post-Semester Gathering” (= PosPos). We will say goodbye to the summer semester on Monday, June 20 at 13:00 in the main building of the Faculty of Science. You can look forward to grilled steaks, sausages and cakes. Musical accompaniment will be provided by talented colleagues led by Roman Kubínek.

EXBIO lecture afternoon in practice

Are you interested in biology? Do you enjoy working in the laboratory? Do you want to know what awaits you during your studies and what our scientists are working on? Come to the mini-conference “EXBIO in practice”, which is organized on June 24, 2022 from 13:30 to 19:00 by graduates of the study program Experimental Biology of the Laboratory of Growth Regulators. The lecture afternoon will contain 12 papers divided into three blocks according to professional orientation. You can look forward not only to lectures by graduates working in the academic sphere in the positions of postdoctoral students or current PhD students, employees of public and private laboratories, but also former students working in other positions in the job market. The lecture afternoon will end after 19.00 with afterparty!
