Thanks to scientific results the Faculty of Science will be better off economically

The Faculty of Science will obtain CZK 529,8 million from institutional resources this year. The contribution has increased by CZK 20 million compared to last year, mainly due to excellent scientific results. The faculty academic senate approved the final allocation on the last meeting in April.

"As the total amount of the contribution increased year-on-year, the faculty should be financially secured again. We continue with a high scientific performance which goes hand in hand with quality teaching, which I am very happy about. We discussed the final allocation of funding with Heads of departments; the proposal was also approved by the Economic Commission, " said the Dean Ivo Frébort.

The largest part from the obtained institutional contribution was granted for results in science and research. This year the contribution for science and research amounted to approximately CZK 283,4 million which is about CZK 28 million increase compared to 2016.

As a consequence of the change in the Ministry of Education methodology, the contribution for funded students has increased from CZK 177 million allocated to our faculty last year to CZK 215 million in 2017. On the contrary, subsidies for teaching according to coefficient K (quality of performance) are lower this year. They come to about CZK 31 million compared to CZK 77 million allocated in 2016.

The Faculty of Science will contribute less money to the university-wide activities in 2017. The faculty granted CZK 91.5 million last year, an approved amount of the levy is CZK 86 million. However, the faculty is going to invest more this year. The faculty management plans to release up to CZK 74 million from own resources compared to CZK 47,5 million invested a year ago.
