Foreword
Night of Scientists at the Faculty of Science was visited by more than two thousand people. The Faculty Management and the Department of External and Internal Affairs would like to thank all those who participated in organizing the October Night of Scientists. "I very much appreciate all those who have invested their time and energy in preparations and have participated in this traditional event. I am glad that the Faculty of Science enjoyed such a high turnout and that parents with children could see that science can be fun," said the Dean Martin Kubala, who also took part in the Night of Scientists.

Science and Research

Public tender MP TRIO
Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a public tender to support industrial
research and experimental development, focusing on the development of Czech Republic's potential in key technologies such as photonics, microelectronics and nanoelectronics, nanotechnology, industrial biotechnology, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing technologies. Support can be requested by businesses (legal or natural persons) who investigate the project in effective cooperation with at least one research organization. Other participants in the project may be businesses and research organizations. An electronic application form must be filled in and sent in the Ministry´s information system by October 31, 12:00 pm. The written application, including the annexes, must be submitted through the Department of Science and Research, by Friday, October 26, 12:00pm. Deadline for entering COST events
As the anticipated announcement of public tender in research, experimetal development and innovations within INTER-EXCELLENCE program, INTER-COST (LTC) subprogram on November 1, 2018, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has set the deadline for submitting applications for COST events to October 22, 2018; more information can be found here.

Competition to support research and education projects
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports announces a competition for the support of research and educational projects solved in cooperation with SÚJV with expected commencement of a implementation in 2019 - Projects 3 + 3. Project proposals and reports on project solution should be delivered by December 3, 2018. More information can be found here.

For students

Registration of courses in STAG
The deadline for registration of courses in STAG for academic year 2018/2019 is September 23, 2018.

Requests for subject recognition
Requests for subject recognition, duly completed and confirmed by the Department, must be submitted to the Study Department by October 10, 2018.

Matriculation
The matriculation of freshman students of Bachelor degree programs will be held on October 3 and 4, 2018, in the Stronghold of Knowledge at 17. listopadu 7. You can find the schedule of matriculations at https://www.prf.upol.cz/en/students/important-dates-deadlines/.

Graduation ceremonies
We ask students who graduated between August and September 2018 and want to take part in November graduation ceremonies to inform their study referent by email. For information on how to pay the fee, visit the following website www.prf.upol.cz/pl/studenti/dulezite-terminy/, where you can find the exact schedule of ceremonies at the end of October.

Study plan of 1st year doctoral students
We ask first-year doctoral students to submit their study plans by September 30, 2018. The study plan must be signed by the student, their supervisor and chair of the subject committee. At the same time, we ask students to enter the topic of dissertation and name of supervisor into STAG.

Continuous teacher training
The continuing teacher training for students of the 1st year of follow-up Master study and the parallel supplementary study for teachers will take place from February 18, 2019 - March 8, 2019. The application form will be available at cpp.upol.cz. Only registered students will be included in the continuous teacher training. Study stays abroad
All students who are traveling abroad for more than 10 days are obliged to report a trip abroad at least ten days prior to departure to Dana Gronychová, dana.gronychova@upol.cz, tel.:585 634 058.

 

Support your Faculty and get up to CZK 10,000!

Promotion of the Faculty of Science and Improvement of the Environment at the Faculty is the goal of the project challenge for students. Cherish your Nature! If you have an idea how to promote our Faculty, make the Faculty more visible to the public, create a teaching aid, organize an exhibition, or organize co-operation with high-school students, sign up for the challenge and get CZK 500 to start the project, and after successfully defend it CZK 9,500 in the form of an extraordinary scholarship. An expert commission will assess the creativity and originality of the proposal, contribution to the Faculty and the quality of the final report. Faculty operation

Power outage
On December 17, 2018, the main building of the Faculty of Science will be closed throughout the day. The reason is to carry out work in a low-voltage switchgear where it is necessary to switch off the power supply for the entire building. The head of the department will decide where work will be carried out.

Driver training
Training of drivers of reference vehicles for Faculty employees who, in order to carry out their duties or on business trips, drive their own or Faculty vehicles, will take place on October 25, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am at the Faculty of Law, 17. listopadu 6, Building B. An attendance list will be prepared for participants in front of the auditorium. Without a legible employee name, workplace and signature on the attendance list, participation is invalid. There is no need to register in advance. Next training of drivers of the reference vehicles is planned for January / February 2019. Employees will be informed by e-mail about the exact date and time of the event.

Miscellaneous

Exhibition called Goodbye, monarchy
An unconventional reminiscence of the Habsburg Empire was prepared by the Stronghold of Knowledge and the Scientific Library in Olomouc. Starting November 4, 2018, people can see an exhibition called Goodbye, monarchy while visiting authentic Viennese café. Rich interactive program reminds us that the Czech lands were part of a great empire inhabited by various nations. You may visit Goodbye, monarchy exhibition that shows the Habsburg monarchy in 1804-1918, until the end of December 2018.

Board games club
Olomouc board games club is looking for newcomers as well as experienced players! We play every Tuesday (from 4:45 pm) and Thursday (from 4:30 pm) in classroom 1,037. About 200 games are available on site. If you have your favorite game at home, you can bring it and teach it to others. Inspiration from Kostelec
On behalf of the Faculty of Environmental Management of Czech University of Agriculture, we would like to invite you to the 10th annual conference on biology, ecology, landscaping, hydrology, geoinformatics and many other topics. This year the conference will be held on November 22-23, 2018 in the chateau of Kostelec nad Černými lesy. List of evaluators
National Accreditation Office calls for proposals to be included in the List of Evaluators. There is also a search for student assessors. The deadline is October 31. Only a person who is generally recognized as an authority in the respective field of education or a student, and meets the "Conditions for inclusion in the List of Evaluators" approved by the NAO Board, may be enrolled in the List of assessors.
