Dealing with chemicals

The Regional Hygienic Station in Olomouc has approved Written rules on safety, health and environmental protection while working with hazardous chemical substances or compounds concerning certain dangerous chemicals dealt with at Palacký University. Pursuant to Section 44 of Act No. 258/2000 Coll. on the Protection of Public Health and on Amendments to Certain Related Acts, as amended, these rules must be freely available to employees and students in the workplace where these chemical substances and compounds are handled. These are in particular laboratories, storages, workshops, etc. They will replace the rules that have been used so far, which no longer comply with current chemical legislation. The rules are available to all employees and students in Palacký University information system UPShare; you may currently download Czech versions of documents, their English versions will be placed on the same storage within 10 days. Guidelines for handling corrosion should then be freely available in areas where chemical substances and compounds are used and which have been assigned class and category 1 of corrosion hazard category (Skin Corr.1A to 1C) with standard H314 hazard statement (marked with an alert symbol GHS05). These are various technical means (maintenance workshops and storages), detergents (cleaning), degreasing agents (dishwashing), etc. The regulation ČSN 01 8003 Principles for safe work in chemical laboratories has been purchased by the Faculty Library (Envelopa as well as Holice) for the needs of employees and students.

Possible queries can be directed at Petr Nádvorník (petr.nadvornik@upol.cz), who is in charge of handling hazardous chemicals and chemical preparations classified as very toxic at the Faculty of Science.
