Window into Practice

The "Window into Practice" gathering of employers and students of Palacký University in Olomouc, which for the first time will be extended to all the university departments, will take part on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Science Faculty. At their stands, employers will be offering practical trainings, internships, temporary employments, permanent jobs or trainee programs. The main point of the program are thematically-oriented moderated discussions with representatives of various companies sharing their experience and answering your questions. Recent Palacký University graduates who have already found employment will also be ready to give their advice.

Various lectures and workshops will also be held during the "Window into Practice" event. These lectures and workshops will help you get oriented on the labour market and will expand you awareness of various possibilities of employment. They will also provide an opportunity to hear some expertise and learn useful tips from several inspiring people with valuable experience. You will be able to take part in mock job interviews and consult your career. Some of these lectures and workshops will be freely accessible and will not necessitate any registration. Other events aim at limited audiences and will not be accessible without prior registration.

Science and Research

NAKI II
The Czech Ministry of Culture announced a third tender in research, experimental development and innovation (NAKI II). Project proposals can be submitted by April 30, 2019 at 2 p.m.

b) by personal delivery to the registry of the Ministry of Culture at Maltézské nám. 1, 118 11 Praha 1

Project proposals prepared based on the required documentation should be submitted at the Science and Research Department of the Science Faculty to Mgr. Aleně Jarošová by Friday, April 26. dubna at 10 a.m. so that timely submission of the project can be secured. All the information about the call, including the information about the required documents, can be accessed at here.

On April 2, 2019 at 10 a.m., the grantor organizes an informatory seminar in the "Konírna" conference room of the ministry. Due to the limited capacity of the room, only one person on the part of the applicant can take part in the seminar. Participation in the "name of the institution - name of the person" format should be confirmed by March 27, 2019 at marketa.hovorkova@mkcr.cz.

Jean-Marie Lehn Award in Chemistry, 2019
The Jean-Marie Lehn Award in Chemistry is organised by the French Embassy in the Czech Republic in cooperation with Solvay CR. Its goal is to award research work conducted by Czech students as part of their PhD studies. The winners will be given a financial award and will have an opportunity to spend a study stay in a research laboratory in France.

The competition can be entered by

- Students with Czech or Slovak nationality younger than 33 years on the day of award giving ceremony (June 27)
- PhD students studying at Czech university or research centre, or students who successfully defended their dissertation in 2018 or 2019
- Students who have never collaborated with Solvay CR
- Students who are authors of at least one article published in or accepted for publication by an international recognized journal.

The deadline for sending applications for Palacký University is March 27, 2019 at noon. Applications should be sent (in the form of professional CV testifying to meeting the requirements of the competition) at jan.petr@upol.cz or sejcpetr@gmail.com.

Selected candidates will then have to electronically submit all the relevant materials directly to the French Embassy by April 26; see the conditions of the competitions.

International and outer University Information

Korean language summer courses
The Czech ministry of education, youth and sport offers 5 stipends to attend Korean language summer courses organised by institutions of high education in South Korea.

Applicants should deliver the required documents to the seat of Academic information agency (Dům zahraniční spolupráce, AIA, Na Poříčí 1035/4, 110 00 Praha 1) by April 12. Further information about the stipend offer was posted on the websites. Detailed information regarding the conditions of participation in the selection procedure, the amount of the stipend and the required documents are posted here.

For Students

Graduation ceremonies
We are asking graduates who successfully finished their study with a state exam in January and February to report to the person in charge of graduation ceremony at their department. The graduation ceremonies will be held in the period of June 24-28, 2019. The schedule will be posted on the websites of the Science Faculty in the second half of June. The certificate of duly finished university study can be collected at the Students' Office. Diplomas can be collected there as well in late March if you do not plan to attend the graduation ceremony.

PhD graduation ceremonies
Graduation ceremonies of PhD students will be held at the turn of May and June 2019. Students will be contacted electronically by the person in charge of students' matters at their departments.

Stipend applications
Applications for monthly stipends should be submitted by the end of the academic year, i.e. by August 2019, not by December 2019. It is so because STAG works with academic years, not with calendar years, to accommodate the fact that some students discontinue their studies or that the amount of the stipend is modified. New applications should be submitted for September 2019.

Academic Senate

The next meeting of the faculty senate will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Fort Science. The agenda will focus on the distribution of finances and the budget of the Science Faculty.

Faculty Operation

Limitations
On March 26
, the entryway to /exit from/ the underground garages will be partially limited from 9 a.m. This measure is expected to last 1 hour.

On March 27-28, 2019, a full closure of the road between the Science Faculty and the Pedagogical Faculty will start at 6 a.m. and will last for a necessary period; see an alternative route in the attachment. During these days it will be impossible to access the building of the Science Faculty by the above-mentioned frequented road. Similarly, it will be impossible to enter or exit the underground garages or the faculty carpark.

On March 29, the entry to and exit from the underground garages will be partially limited from 9 a.m. due to the re-installing of a window on the fourth floor. The limitation is expected to last one hour.

Miscellaneous

Transformation of study programs with the rector
The rector of Palacký University in Olomouc and the head of the internal evaluation board of Palacký University in Olomouc invites guarantors of university study programs and department heads of the Science Faculty to a discussion panel aimed at the transformation of study programs and the role of guarantors of study programs, which will be held on April 16, 2019 from 2 p.m. in the lecture hall of the Science faculty (2.001), tř. 17. listopadu 12, second floor.

Andrew Feustel
The American astronaut Andrew Feustel, who took a Krtek figurine and Jan Neruda's book of poetry Písně kosmické (Cosmic Songs) on his space mission, will visit Olomouc on April 9, 2019. He will first meet up with students and other people interested in space in the lecturing hall at the Pedagogical Faculty at 2 p.m. (registration) and afterwards in Laudon's Hall of Fort Science (Pevnosti poznání) at 6 p.m. (registration). Feustel's lectures will be translated and will be free of charge.

The association of students and friends of science UP Crowd invites anyone interested in sciences to join its ranks.
