I would like to welcome you in 2021. I perceived the past year as very demanding which is why I would like to wish you a lot of strength and energy in the new year and expressed my hopes that we will see more of each other this year than we did in the previous one.

Science and Research

Entering results into OBD
Decisive data for dividing contributions for the development of a research organization between workplaces of the faculty for year 2021 into the OBD database can be entered only by February 12 by midnight. It will not be possible to take into account the results entered later when creating the budget for 2021. The results must be entered continuously and carefully (e. g. surnames of Czech co-authors should be accented together with first name, link to the full text of the article and not only abstract, etc.). The completeness and accuracy of the records in RIV creates the image of the entire university.

TA CR - EnerDigit Call 2020
The main theme of the call is "digitalization for green energy transition" and the intention is to financially support international research projects that focus on digital solutions of energy systems and networks, not only from a purely technical point of view, but also from the point of view of business models and interaction with society. More information here.

Brief project proposals (so-called registration of interest) can be submitted by February 17, 2021, 2:00 pm via the international application portal called NordForsk Application Portal. Conditions for applicants from the Czech Republic are based on the program of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) THÉTA, from which successful projects will be financed. Czech applicants can be research organizations or private companies. The total financial amount of support of the TA CR for the call for Czech applicants in international projects is € 1,000,000. The maximum aid intensity for the Czech side of the project is 80% of the total eligible project costs. Prior to the submission of a project proposal, the consent of the Dean and the Faculty´s Secretary is required.

GA CR - Call for projects based on the Lead Agency evaluation principle
The Grant Agency of the Czech Republic has announced a call for projects based on the Lead Agency evaluation principle, with implementation expected to begin in 2021. The call concerns projects in cooperation with the Slovenian agency ARRS within the CEUS initiative. In this call, the Slovenian agency ARRS acts as the Lead Agency. Rules for submitting project proposals and forms of solemn declarations to prove eligibility can be found here. The Faculty deadline is February 17, 2021 until 3:00 pm.

Prior to the submission of the project proposal, the consent of the Dean and the Faculty Secretary is required. In case of any questions, please contact Ing. Ivana Saitzová (ivana.saitzova@upol.cz), who will send the consent form, provide additional information and secure signatures on the application form.

The meeting of the Academic Senate of the UP Faculty of Science will take place on February 3 at 1:00 p.m.

International and non-university matters

Scholarship program - France
We would like to inform you about a scholarship offer, which is based on the agreement on a joint scholarship program between the Czech Republic and France. The guarantors of the program, also known as the "Barrande Fellowship Program", are the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and the French Embassy in the Czech Republic.

The scholarships will enable selected DSP students to complete a research stay in France under the guidance of a French supervisor. Doctoral students can apply for two types of mobility: (a) doctoral studies under double supervision / cotutelle / (a total of 15 months over three years), (b) short-term stay (1 to 3 months). Detailed information on studying in France and instructions for applying, including a list of required documents, are available on the program´s website.

Doctoral students enrolled at a Czech university, regardless of nationality, can apply for the scholarship. Candidates will send the required documents in English electronically to aia@dzs no later than February 26, 2021 by midnight. Candidates will be selected based on evaluation of their projects.

Scholarship and research stays in Greece
Academic staff members may apply for one of the six scholarship places for study and research stays in Greece in 2021. The maximum length of stay is 7 days, the amount of the scholarship is 110 EUR per day. However, the offer is subject to notification by the Greek side, which has not yet taken place. Applicants shall send the completed and confirmed Proposal for outbound students / Application for Scholarship to the address of the Academic Information Agency, House of Foreign Cooperation, Na Poříčí 1035/4, 110 00 Prague 1 by January 21, 2021. Please note that the letter of acceptance of the Greek institution isnecessary to submit two months before the start of the stay. We accept scans from the foreign department scanned.

Latvia
Latvia offers university students and teachers two places for thematically-oriented summer schools. The list of summer schools for 2021 has not yet been published. Applicants shall send applications (Proposal for outbound students / Application for scholarship, motivation letter and in the case of students also proof of examinations) by January 31, 2021 to the office of the Academic Information Agency, House of Foreign Cooperation, Na Poříčí 1035/4, 110 Prague 1 by mail or electronically to e-podatelna@dzs.cz. The scholarship covers course fees, accommodation and meals.

Germany
By February 1, 2021, university teachers can apply for DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services) scholarships for study trips of groups of students to Germany. The maximum number of students is 15, accompanied by one university teacher. During the study trip, they should visit at least two universities in Germany and the length of stay is 7 to 12 days. Financial support is 50 EUR per person per day. For these scholarships, the DAAD will list three dates per year; interested students shall apply for trips, which take place from June 1. Applications shall be submitted only to DAAD portal.

Final state examination and defense of final theses
We ask students who want to take final state examination or defend their final thesis in January / February 2021 to come to the study department no later than three weeks before the exam / defense deadline and at the same time apply through STAG for a specific date.

Registration of courses for summer semester 2020/2021
Registration of courses for the summer semester of academic year 2020/2021 for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral study programs takes place from January 19 to February 15, 2021. Detailed information is available here.

Applications for credit recognition
Applications for recognition of subjects, duly completed and confirmed by the department, must be submitted to the study department by the end of January.

Department of Pedagogical Training
Continuous teacher training of first-year students and for students of simultaneous supplementary study of teaching will take place on February 22 - March 12, 2021. An application form is available on the website. Only registered students will be included in the continuous teaching practice. The application must be submitted by January 20, 2021.

Before starting a continuous teacher training, the student is obliged to mediate an Agreement of professional internship of the student between the school, Palacký University Olomouc and the student teacher. Information and instructions for completing it can be found on the website. An informational meeting on the 1st continuous teacher training will take place on February 15, 2021, more information will be available on the website in the news. Continuous teacher training is provided to students who complete it within the specified (university-wide) deadline. Send any questions about teaching practice to jana.slezakova@upol.cz.
