Dear students,

the summer semester at UP has begun in most cases through online education. Information on teaching during following months of the summer semester and information from other faculties may be found here. Conditions of arrival to the Czech Republic from abroad have been updated for Czech citizens as well as foreign students and employees. We would also like to remind you all of the recommendation of UP crisis management to wear a respirator while on UP premises.

Science and research

THÉTA
TA CR has announced the 4th public competition in THETA program. The main goal of this program is to support energy projects aimed at improving management of the energy sector by public administration, new technologies and system elements with high potential for rapid application in practice, as well as long-term technological perspectives. The faculty deadline is May 7, 2021. Prior to the submission of the project proposal, the consent of the dean and secretary of the faculty with the submission of the project is required. In case of any questions, please contact Mgr. Silvia Šavrňáková (silvie.savrnakova@upol.cz), who will send the form for consent, provide additional information and secure signatures on the application form.

STAMIFY
On January 29, 2021, a call entitled "Standardised measurement, monitoring and / or biomarkers to study food intake, physical activity and health (STAMIFY)" was launched under the "Healthy Nutrition for Healthy Living" (HDHL) Joint Programming Initiative. The full text of this call, including the list of participating countries, funding organizations, timetable, definition of key objectives, areas supported and expected impacts, can be found on the HDHL website.

  • The deadline for the submission of "pre-proposals" - has been set for March 31, 2021
  • The deadline for the submission of "full project proposals" has been set for July 22, 2021

International and non-university matters

"Mini grants" of Aurora project
Palacký University informs about the announcement of the first round of "mini grants" within the Aurora Alliance project, the aim of which is to support mutual cooperation of individual departments, faculties or institutions at UP with partner universities. More information can be found in a document, which also includes the application. All information on the "mini grants" can be found on the new official website of the Aurora Alliance project in English.

Foreign scholarships to Romania, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Latvia and Georgia
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has extended the deadlines for submitting scholarship applications under international agreements to Romania, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Latvia and Georgia. There are still vacancies for scholarships.

Those interested in scholarship stays can deliver their applications by e-mail in a PDF file to e-podatelna@dzs.cz. You will find a list of required documents in the specific scholarship offer.

University students focused on Mongolia can apply for the last scholarship for a summer school in Mongolia in 2021. They should send their application by noon, February 28.

Students of Bachelor, Master and Doctoral study programs and academics may apply for a scholarship for a study or lecture / research stay in Romania, Latvia, Bulgaria or Georgia by noon, March 8.

Romania offers study stays for students lasting 2 to 9 months. The amount of the scholarship for Bachelor and Master students is CZK 7,700 per month, for Doctoral students CZK 8,000 per month.

For academic staff, it offers study and lecture stays of up to 1 month. The amount of the scholarship is CZK 8,500 per month.

Latvia offers study stays for students lasting 2 to 10 months. The amount of the scholarship for Bachelor and Master students is EUR 500 per month, for Doctoral students EUR 670 per month.

For academic staff, it offers study and lecture stays of up to 4 weeks. The amount of the scholarship is EUR 30 per day + EUR 300 per month for accommodation.

Bulgaria offers study stays for students lasting 2 to 9 months. The amount of the scholarship is CZK 6,500 per month for Bachelor and Master students, and CZK 6,700 per month for Doctoral students.

For academic staff, it offers study, research and lecture stays lasting 1 to 3 months.

Georgia offers study stays for students lasting 2 to 9 months. The amount of the scholarship for BSP, MSP and DSP students is GEL 800 per month.

For academics, it offers research and lecture stays of up to 1 month. The amount of the scholarship is 800 GEL per month.

Mongolia offers study stays for students lasting 2 to 9 months. The amount of the scholarship is in accordance with applicable national law.

Those interested in the summer course of Bulgarian for university students and university teachers-philologists in 2021 and those interested in the summer course of Romanian for university students and university teachers in 2021 must send their applications by noon, March 15.

Scholarship stays in Poland
We would like to inform you about the extension of the deadline for submitting scholarship applications to Poland in the category of study and research stays for students and academic staff. As not enough applications have been delivered so far, there has been a second round announced and the deadline is extended until March 31, resp. until the total quota (number of scholarship months) available for the 2021/2022 academic year has been reached, if it occurred before that date. The order in which the additional applications will be delivered is decisive.

BSP, MSP and DSP students can apply for a scholarship to Poland for a study and research stay of 2-10 months. The amount of the scholarship is CZK 9,000 per month for BSP and SME students and CZK 9,500 per month for doctoral students.

Academic staff can apply for a scholarship to Poland for a study and research stay of 1-5 months with a scholarship support of CZK 9,500 per month. Those interested in these scholarships submit a completed and confirmed Proposal for Sending / Application for a scholarship together with the application form of the Polish agency NAWA, including the required attachments in English or Polish.

Mandatory attachments for BSP and SME students are a curriculum vitae, including the justification of choice of the host institution in Poland, proof of examinations taken, resp. Diploma supplement, letter of recommendation, letter of acceptance of the receiving institution. The list of mandatory attachments for academic staff and doctoral students includes a study / research stay plan, including justification of choice of host institution in Poland, curriculum vitae including list of publications, acceptance letter from the host institution, copies of the highest diploma obtained. The deadline for submitting the application is March 31, by 12:00 pm.

The application can be delivered in two ways:
• by post, in this case send the NAWA form, including attachments in English or Polish in two copies (original + copy), to the AIA office, House of Foreign Cooperation, Na Poříčí 1035/4, 110 00 Prague 1

• by e-mail in a PDF file to e-podatelna@dzs.cz.

Scholarship in Bavaria
We would also like to inform you about the BTHA (Czech-Bavarian University Agency) scholarship offer to participate in language or vocational schools in Bavaria in 2021. BSP, SME, DSP students and academics can apply. The list of courses for 2021 is varied and published on the BTHA website in the Scholarships section, where there are also reports from stays from previous years. Those interested in German language courses are expected to have knowledge of German at a minimum level of B1.

Applicants must send their application by post and e-mail to BTHA / BAYHOST Universitätsstr. 31 93053 Regensburg, e-mail: sekretariat@btha.de. BTHA also informs about grant programs for 2021:

• NEW: "Bayerisch-tschechische Sommer- / Winterschulen 2021" - support program for bilateral summer / winter schools with the participation of students from both countries (application is submitted by a Bavarian university)

• "Bayerisch-tschechische akademische Projekte 2021" - a program to support Czech-Bavarian academic projects, such as conferences, workshops, smaller research projects or the preparation of international projects (application is submitted by a Bavarian university)

• "Mobilitätsbeihilfen Tschechien 2021" - contributions to study, lecture and research stays in Bavaria, resp. in the Czech Republic (application is submitted by a Bavarian university)

Scholarship stays in Belgium
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic would like to inform you about the offer of teaching and research programs at the von Karman Institute of Fluid Dynamics. The Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI) is an international educational and research organization based in Belgium, founded in 1956 by NATO to train experts in fluid dynamics. Every year, VKI offers scholarship programs for students and researchers with Czech citizenship. If you register by April 1, you can get a scholarship of EUR 1,100 (research master) or EUR 1,500 (Ph.D.). More information is available on the website of the Academic Information Agency and on the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

Study programs in Thailand
The Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in Thailand offers 8 tuition waivers for international Bachelor students studying in a scientific field with a good level of English. The offer of Master and Doctoral degree programs at the PSU Faculty of Science can be found on this website. After the application frame is closed, the committee will select students that meet the requirements.

The International Relations Committee of the PSU Faculty of Science is open to give an online roadshow at any faculty that would be interested. The roadshow consists of two presentations including video material to introduce the faculty, its divisions and to give an insight into student life and things to know about the Faculty of Science. In the end the IR team as well as one lecturer of each division will be there to answer questions of the students.

The online roadshow project starts from March 1, 2021 on. In case of interest of hosting the roadshow, contact the International Relations Committee until February 24, 2021 through this Roadshow Interest Form.

The upcoming meeting of the Academic Senate of the Faculty will take place on April 7 at 1:00 pm.

Study matters

Opening hours of the study department
The study department has fully re-opened according to its standard office hours.

New study assistant
Ms. Agnes Hausknotzová will be taking over the agenda of Ms. Jana Camfrlová at the study department. She will be in charge of Bachelor's as well as follow-up Master studies in the field of Physics and partly Chemistry (to the same extent as Ms. Camfrlová). Schedule adjustments
Minor adjustments to the schedule in the summer semester can be made at the study department by March 15.

Study plans for the academic year 2020/2021
Lists of lectures (study plans) for academic year 2020/2021 are located on the faculty's webside.

Student trips abroad
We would like to remind the departments that all student trips abroad must be reported to Mrs. Gronychová. Otherwise, the trip will not be recorded in STAG system and will not be displayed on the Diploma Supplement.

Miscellaneous

Czechitas Award
The Czechitas Thesis Award is intended for all female students for the best bachelor's thesis in IT, who have successfully defended a bachelor's thesis on a topic related to IT in the previous year. The aim of the competition is to draw attention to gifted young ladies passionate about IT, to help them implement their projects with the support of experts from practice, and at the same time to show other girls and young women how interesting topics they can deal with. You can apply on this website by February 28, 2021.
