Introductory word

The reconstruction of communications and technical infrastructure in Holice is underway

The first stage of reconstruction of communications and technical infrastructure - Holice I., which has recently commenced, will result in reconstructed roads, new engineering networks, bicycle stands and parking places, container stalls, modern outside furniture and new green areas.  The entire reconstruction will continue halfway through 2018. The cost is estimated at CZK 38 million and will be disbursed from central University funds.

"Our goal is to take further steps in revitalization of the premises, which will lead to significant modifications of public areas towards functional arrangement for the benefit of pedestrians. It is obvious that the reconstruction will affect operation of the entire area, therefore we kindly request our staff and students to be patient. Authorized staff of the Building Maintenance and the Department of Technical Support will coordinate the reconstruction works and communicate all interventions," said Jana Zimová, the Secretary of the Faculty.

The construction works will involve reconstruction of the whole main street, communication leading to UP Science and Technology Park as well as other adjacent roads, sidewalks and paved areas in the campus. Existing engineering networks will be exchanged and complemented because some of them are in critical state. The main communications will be transformed into a pedestrian zone with embedded elements of a square; car traffic will be headed from the gatehouse along block 47 north, where new car parking places are designed. All communications and areas will be equipped with new lighting, additional container stands, shelters and stands for bicycles, benches, tables, trash bins and an information system.

"Unifying elements of outside furniture and small objects are designed to improve quality of the public area between buildings. The basis of a new green area composition is a green corridor between the northern roads by the Technology Park building B, C and the central park followed up by relaxation areas suitable for holding social events, "explained Michal Karták, the Head of the Department of Technical Support.

In an effort to minimize the impacts on the premises' operation, the reconstruction is divided into several stages. The first stage is targeted at the central and northern part of the site; most of the demanding work (deep excavations for sewage, subsoil remediation, etc.) should take place during the examination period and during summer holidays.

Please move around the premises with increased caution during the reconstruction. Parking in the premises will not be possible until final approval of the parking spaces. Existing parking area in front of the Holice premises and adapted areas for parking between the entrance gates may be used for parking your vehicles. Basic information about the construction site will be displayed on the information board at the entrance to the premises; further information will be available from June on the faculty website.
