Mass entry into the bone marrow registry

Bone marrow transplantation is the only hope for saving lives of a number of patients. The Faculty of Science is joining to the call of bone marrow donor registry, which is looking for new donors. Even though their number is constantly increasing, the register needs to be supplemented by young, healthy and reliable people. After a number of universities that have already joined similar challenges, you will be able to register at our Faculty via our mobile sampling team. Team members collect a blood ampoule on site to test the required characters, answer your questions, help with filling up the application. The entry criterion for entering the register is good health, weight over 50 kg and age 18 to 35 years. By signing up, the applicant does not automatically become a bone marrow donor but is included in the database if needed. Only about one percent of the registered donors are asked if a specific demand for a severely ill patient is met. The rest become hope for all future patients. You do not have to agree with donating after having been approached by the registry.

Bone marrow transplantation increases the chance of survival, for example, by patients with leukemia, such as Vilemínka. She is waiting for a good bone marrow donor in Olomouc, finding an appropriate donor promptly is crucial. Join the registry to help raise the chance of saving her life or the life of others waiting. Come and register on March 14 from 8:00 to 12:00 in the SE-E2 classroom in Holice. From 1:00 pm in the board room 6.016 on the 6th floor of the main Faculty building.

Your choice can save lives.
