Commenting on the Intention of Establishment of new University Institute

On behalf of the Chairman of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science, prof. Tomáš Opatrný we would like to ask you to comment on the Intention of Establishment of a new University Institute, which is saved in a zipped file on the website of the Academic Senate under Documents for the Establishment of new University Institute. These are material intentions of two new UP internal regulations, a proposal for organizational change and other supplementary documents. They are divided to respond to the individual parts of the relevant resolution of the AS UP of June 19, 2019.

Science and Research

Rector´s Honorable mention to authors of expert books 2019
Rector will again appreciate authors of selected expert books in the fields of natural, medical, social sciences and the humanities. Every employee of the University, including the author, may submit a proposal for honorary recognition. Popular scientific publications and textbooks will not be included in the competition.

The expert book must formally meet the criteria of result "B" according to the valid Methodology of the Evaluation of Research Organizations and the Evaluation of Programs of Targeted Support of Research, Development and Innovation (Methodology 17+). To be included in the competition, please send the book in printed form and the cover letter in electronic form to Mgr. Alena Jarošová, alena.jarosova@upol.cz at the Department of Science and Research until Monday, September 30, tel.: 585 634 011. Popular scientific publications, textbooks and textbooks will not be included in the competition.

EUREKA
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has announced the 7th National Call for submitting project proposals in Research, Development and Innovation of the INTER-EXCELLENCE Program (LTE120) within sub-program of international cooperation in research and development - EUREKA. The deadline for submitting proposals is October 10, 2019 by 12:00 at Miriam Delongová, R&D Department, email: miriam.delongova@upol.cz. More information available here.

Scholarships
Practical internship at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to the UN, OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna / OSCE section. Duration of the traineeship 02/02/2020 - 31/07/2020. Tender
An additional competition for Erasmus study stays in the summer semester 2019/2020 has been announced. The selection procedure for students is only necessary through the Erasmus + application. The deadline for the completion of tenders is October 10, 2019. To this day, the tender must be fully closed in the application and a report on the results generated. This report must be immediately - printed and signed - delivered to Mgr. Vladimíra Žlutířová, Křížkovského 8, 2nd floor (mansard), door no. 3.14. Tel .: +420 585 631 062.

Erasmus+ KA107
As part of the Erasmus + KA107 program, the Faculty of Science currently offers (among other things) a study stay for the summer semester 2020 at the University of Sarajevo or the University of Mostar (700 EUR / month scholarship). The offer is valid for all faculties. Potential candidates can apply by October 20 via email to petr.simacek@upol.cz or dana.gronychova@upol.cz.

Professorship
The Department for Management of Science and Technology Development at the Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam invites candidates from around the world to submit the applications for professorship (assistant professor, associate professor, full professor). For detailed information along with the documents necessary, please visit the following website https://science.tdtu.edu.vn/en/call-professorship-applications-ton-duc-thang-university-2019. The application must be submitted before November 30, 2019.

Scholarships and summer German courses
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a range of scholarships for various groups (from 2nd year students, follow-up Master students, PhD students, scientists to university teachers). Detailed information can be found here.

The DAAD online portal is already open for receiving your requests. For most study and research stays (longer and shorter), the application deadline is November 16, 2019. Applications for scholarships for summer German courses must be submitted by December 1, 2019. Please send a printed version of the application to the seat of the Academic Information Agency (AIA), House of International Cooperation, Na Poříčí 1035/4, 110 00 Prague 1.

German - Czech-Bavarian College Agency
German - Czech-Bavarian University Agency (BTHA) offers one-year study stays for students of Doctoral and Master study programs. Applications for scholarships are accepted by December 1, 2019. The scholarship conditions, required documents and delivery addresses can be found in the table.

Austria - Aktion
Students of Master and Doctoral degree programs and academics can apply for a semester scholarship (1-5 months) in Austria by October 31, 2019. University teachers can apply for a one-month scholarship research stay until November 30, 2019.

Registration of courses in STAG
The deadline for registration of courses in STAG for academic year 2019/2020 is September 30, 2019.

Requests for subject recognition
Requests for subject recognition, duly completed and confirmed by the Department, must be submitted to the Study Department by October 10, 2019.

Graduation ceremonies
We ask students who graduated between August to September 2019 and want to take part in November graduation ceremonies to inform their study referent by email. For information on how to pay the fee, visit the following website, where you can find the exact schedule of ceremonies at the end of October.

Study plan of 1st year doctoral students
We ask first-year doctoral students to submit their study plans by September 30, 2019. The study plan must be signed by the student, their supervisor and chair of the subject committee. At the same time, we ask students to enter the topic of dissertation and name of supervisor into STAG.

UP Crowd
With the beginning of the academic year, UP Crowd student association would like to welcome new members. If you are interested in promoting science and research, you can meet the members of the Association at the Night of Scientists at the Faculty of Science on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the following (election) meeting on October 3, 2019 or October 1, 2019 at the MEET UP University event. Diverse experiments will be prepared and members will be happy to share with you what working in the association entails and why the popularization of science is so important today.

Traffic situation - questionnaire
The management of the Faculty of Science is aware of the difficult traffic situation in Olomouc, which often interferes with your studies. A Transport Commission has therefore been set up to assess the current state and propose solutions to individual problems. To have a better idea of what is bothering you in terms of traffic, we've created this questionnaire. Please complete it by October 15, 2019. It will not take more than 10 minutes. At the end of the questionnaire there is space for formulation of concrete problems or ideas.

White crayon
National collection White Crayon will take place on Wednesday 16, October 2019. We are looking for volunteers who will in pairs sell one hundred pieces of crayons, 30, - CZK a piece. The collection will run throughout the day from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. We are looking for volunteers especially for afternoon or even morning sales (even for a few hours). Pamper your nature!
The Dean of the Faculty of Science has announced VIII. year of the Pamper your Nature competition to support student projects to promote and improve environment of the Faculty. Full-time students in bachelor, master or doctoral studies at the Faculty of Science can participate in the call. It is possible to win up to CZK 10,000! Change in the management of PrF
Eduard Bartl at his own request resigned from his position as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science. He would like to thank everyone for their cooperation. Jan Říha became the new Vice-Dean for Study Affairs.

Purchasing office paper and envelopes
UP's Public Procurement Department reminds all employees that they can only purchase office paper and envelopes on the basis of a framework contract concluded for the whole UP.

FreshUP news at Faculty of Science UP
Fresh UP bistro, which can be found on the ground floor of the main building of the Faculty of Science has prepared loyalty cards for 9 + 1 cups of coffee (every tenth free of charge) for coffee lovers for the academic year 2019/2020. In addition, in accordance with ecology and sustainability principles, FreshUP introduced returnable cups for a refundable deposit of CZK 50. The cups can be returned directly at the bistro or at other premises belonging to the "Otoč kelímek" (Flip the cup) partner network.

The pastry is newly supplied by the bakery and confectionery Vašíček-Zábřeh, for breakfast or a snack you can enjoy for example carrot pockets besides traditional types of pastries. Sandwiches, salads, yoghurt with jam and soups (the newest is champignon cream) are still produced directly by FreshUP in cooperation with the UP canteen. The sale of tickets for public transport in Olomouc is under negotiation, which we will inform you about in more detail in the next Newsletter.

Opening hours are guaranteed during the semester on working days: Mon-Thu 7: 30-6: 00, Fri 7: 30-4: 00. It is possible to pay cash, student card / employee card or meal vouchers of Up Czech Republic (provided to faculty staff). Card payments are not accepted.

Miscellaneous

Run with Kangaroo
Running with Kangaroo is a cross-country race for children and adults, where children run from 60 to 1,500 m, handicapped 3 km, women 7 km and men 9 km. The race is a part of the Running Cup of Children and Youth of the Olomouc Region and the Grand Prix of the Olomouc Region's Endurance runners. It will take place on September 28, 2019 in Olomouc-Hejčín u Mlýnského potoka, the presentation will take place in the restaurant U Travise. The program can be found here.

Seismik award
Seismik has announced the competition for the best thesis in the field of theoretical and applied geophysics / seismics. The competition is intended for undergraduate and graduate students at Czech and Slovak universities focused on geophysics, seismics or applied geophysics, who have defended or will defend their final thesis in 2018-2019. The work must be written in Czech, Slovak or English language and defended in the period from 1 November 2018 to 4 October 2019. The prize for the winner is CZK 15,000.

Lecture: Preservation of fruit tree gene pools using ultra low temperatures
Department of Genetic Resources of Vegetables, Medicinal Plants and Special Crops of Crop Research Institute at CR Haná invites all who are interested to the next part of the cycle of lectures from the field of life sciences: Preservation of fruit tree gene poold by means of ultra - low temperatures. Lecture will be given by RNDr. Alois Bilavčík, Ph.D., (VÚRV, Prague-Ruzyně), it will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 1:00 pm in the meeting room of building D (VÚRV) in Holice campus.
