TA CR current calls - autumn 2026

Below are the current and forthcoming calls for proposals from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR), with deadlines for the submission of project proposals in autumn 2026.

1. Clean Energy Transition (CET) Call 2026

The call supports international research in the field of energy transition (clean energy).

• Faculty deadline for submitting documents: by 25 September 2026
• Deadline for pre-proposal submission: by 8 October 2026, 14:00
• Deadline for full proposal submission: from 8 January 2027 to 11 March 2027, 14:00
• Project start: 1 September 2027

2. Biodiversity Partnership Joint Call 2026

The call BiodivFuture focuses on supporting future-looking research and innovation that will address biodiversity and novel ecosystems, as well as their socio-ecological dynamics and consequences relating to the sustainability goals.

• Faculty deadline for submitting documents: by 26 October 2026
• Deadline for pre-proposal submission: by 10 November 2026, 12:00
• Deadline for full proposal submission: by 16 April 2027, 12:00
• Project start: between 1 December 2027 and 1 April 2028

3. Water4All Joint Call 2026

The call focuses on sustainable water management.

• Project start: end of 2027 / beginning of 2028

4. Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Call 2026

The purpose of this Call is to support transnational research and/or innovation projects addressing urban challenges to help cities in their transition towards a more sustainable economy and functioning.

• Deadline for pre-proposal submission: by 17 November 2026, 13:00
• Deadline for full proposal submission: February 2027 – 15 April 2027, 13:00
• Project start: end of 2027 / beginning of 2028

5. FOREST Call 2026

This new international call for proposals aims to support the transition towards biodiverse, climate-resilient, multifunctional and sustainable forest management. It seeks to foster innovation within the bioeconomy and help achieve a more productive, resource-efficient and resilient forestry sector.

Mandatory reporting of mobilities

Every student mobility, regardless of the source of funding and regardless of whether the student will receive credits for it, must be reported at least one month before its start to Mgr. Marie Raková at marie.rakova@upol.cz from the International section of the Student Affairs Office. It the primary source does not cover all the necessary costs, it is possible to apply for additional funding for student mobilities lasting at least one month, or for staff mobilities (except conferences). Outgoing mobilities are primarily reported by students, incoming mobilities by the department. Details can be found on the faculty website.

Mobility scholarship

A student who goes on any mobility abroad for 30 days or more (study stay, research internship, work placement, etc.), can apply for a scholarship of CZK 5,000 for each realized mobility. The request must be submitted before departure. Details here.

Co-financing of trips and internships abroad

If the primary source does not cover all the necessary costs, it is possible to apply for additional funding for student mobilities lasting at least one month, or for staff mobilities (except conferences). Send the completed and signed application form (for students, for employees) by internal mail to Waleria Kmentová (Student Affairs Office) or its scan to waleria.kmentova@upol.cz. If the request is approved, the scholarship will be paid at the soonest possible date after the start of the mobility.
After each co-financed mobility, it is necessary to provide a brief description of its course and 5 photographs.

Records of foreign guests

It is the responsibility of the department to register foreign guests. If you have international guests visiting your department, enter their information in the Portal as follows:

• click on "All Applications" in your Portal
• click on the "Guest Admission" tile
• press the "+New" button and fill out the newly opened form.

This procedure does not apply to student internships - these are reported as incoming mobility.

Aurora Academic Matchmaking Event 2026

Have you ever thought about teaching a course together with a colleague from Iceland, France or Spain? Or creating a new Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), launching a COIL course, developing a microcredential, inviting an international guest lecturer or finding partners for a joint research project?

Attend a two-day networking event bringing together academics from across the Aurora Alliance to build new teaching, research and interdisciplinary collaborations. In case of interest, please complete the registration form. Registration deadline is 30 September.

The regular meeting of the Academic Senate FS UP will take place on 7 October 2026 at 13:00 in the conference room of the Dean's Office. Detailed information and materials as well as the link to the stream will be available at the given time of the meeting on the senate website (in Czech).

Registration for courses

The (pre-)registration for courses in the winter semester of the academic year 2026/2027 has to be done by 29 September 2026.

PhD students - Individual study plan and thesis registration

Students in the first year of the doctoral study programmes have to submit their individual study plan and register their thesis topic within a month from the beginning of their studies. Follow the guide at this website https://www.prf.upol.cz/en/students/current-students/#c20003 and submit both documents to your Student Affairs Officer.

Language courses

The Department of Foreign Languages of the UP Faculty of Science offers language courses to its employees and students. There are also 2 Czech language courses for international students and employees of the Faculty of Science. Choose your course from the offer at this link.

Hackathon 2026

Are you interested in artificial intelligence, data, programming, maps or finding smart solutions? Sign up for the Hackathon 2026, which will take place on 20–22 November 2026 at the Envelopa Hub in Olomouc.

Over the course of a single weekend, you can work – either on your own or in a team – on real-world challenges in the fields of transport, mobility, sustainability and the environment, and turn your ideas into an app, a map, a visualisation, an analysis or another working prototype.

This year’s event will also place a strong emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence and data from mobile network operators. You don’t need to turn up with a finished project. What matters is a desire to create, try new things and collaborate with others. The hackathon is primarily aimed at secondary school and university students, and registration is open here.

On 1 September 2026, the following staff changes took place at the UP Faculty of Science:

Department of Project Support and Knowledge Transfer - Two new colleagues have joined the department. Mgr. Romana Špíšková has taken a post of a project officer and will focus primarily on the administration of projects funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO), tel.: 585 634 011, e-mail: romana.spiskova@upol.cz. Mgr. Miriam Coufalová (née Delongová) is also returning after maternity leave; she will be a knowledge transfer officer and will help support activities related to knowledge transfer and collaboration with the applied sector, tel.: 585 634 076, e-mail: miriam.coufalova@upol.cz.

Student Affairs Office - Mgr. Hana Štefanová will continue to handle her current responsibilities regarding the Czech study programmes and will also take on the English Bachelor and Master degree programmes.

Health and Safety and Fire Safety matters for the Faculty of Science are now handled by Pavel Paroulek, an officer at the Rector's Office, e-mail: pavel.paroulek@upol.cz.

Exhibition and the Botanical Garden

A new exhibition, "Kingfishers, Owls and Other Creatures of God", will showcase the world of birds through a variety of artistic techniques. Visitors can look forward to works by well-known Czech and international artists, including pieces from private collections that are rarely seen in public. The exhibition will open on 22 September 2026 at the Botanical Garden of the UP Faculty of Science.

The exhibition, held in the Josef Otruba Hall, has been curated by art theorist Ladislav Daněk in collaboration with curator Jan Jeništa, based on their personal selection. The central theme of the individual works is birds, depicted using a variety of artistic techniques. More information here.

European Sustainable Development Week

Let’s kick off the new term sustainably – on 22 September, leave your car at home and get out and about on foot, by bike or by public transport. For Car-Free Day, a special free circular tram service will run from 6 am to 7 pm; there’ll also be basic bike servicing, refreshments, an e-bike demonstration and a group bike ride. The UP Bazaar will take place the following day, whilst the programme for the remaining days includes a screening of the film "Carbon: An Unauthorised Biography", the ‘School and Sustainability’ conference, and faculty events featuring yoga, lectures, practical workshops and health check-ups.

You can get involved right now: sort through your clothes, books or small household items at home and bring them to one of the collection points for the UP Bazaar. Join in, try something new and start the semester in a more sustainable way! You can find all the information on the Sustainable University website.

Researchers' Night

Science can be fun, game and magic. The nationwide public engagement event ‘Researchers’ Night’ provides irrefutable proof of this. Last year it celebrated its 20th anniversary; this year it is changing its name to ‘Science Night’. The concept remains the same – to open laboratories, lecture theatres and educational centres to adults and children after closing time and to spark their interest in science. On the last Friday in September, visitors to Olomouc, Přerov, Prostějov, Hlubočky and Jeseník can look forward to experiments, quizzes, workshops, screenings and excursions, this time on the theme of communication.
