CES – Central Contract Register

We would like to inform all solvers of ongoing and new projects that from June 1, 2022, the CES system will be updated in connection with the new standards. The CES environment will be expanded with new functions and will change the existing procedures for filling in accompanying documents, so-called “košilky” of contracts. All “košilky” will be filled in directly on the Portal (i.e. in the ‘Contracts’ tile). The procedure was stated in an email from Mgr. Iveta Turovská from May 2, 2022 addressed to the head of departments and workplaces. The testing version of CES is available at https://srv-dev.up.upol.cz/ces.

MEYS – Mobilities Czech Republic-Austria/Germany/France 2023-2024

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) has announced calls for proposals for joint Czech-Austrian/German/French research projects with a solution period of 2023-2024. Call texts including forms for applicants can be found on the faculty’s Projects website or on the website of the ministry (CR-AT/CR-DE/CR-FR). Faculty deadline is on May 23, 2022. Submit your applications to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

MEYS – Award of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports for extraordinary results in research, experimental development and innovation in 2022

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports accepts proposals for the Award of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports for extraordinary results in research, experimental development and innovation achieved by prominent scientists in 2022 no later than August 31, 2022 until 16:00. Deadline for delivery to the Department of Project Support to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz) is August 24, 2022. The proposal is submitted by the statutory body or the representative of the recipient of research, experimental development and innovation support provided by the MEYS by sending electronic documents via the MEYS data box. MEYS – 9th joint call within the European Interest Group for cooperation with Japan (EIG CONCERT Japan): "Design of Materials with Atomic Precision"

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports informs about the announcement of the 9th joint call within the European Interest Group for Cooperation with Japan (EIG CONCERT Japan) on the topic "Design of Materials with Atomic Precision". This joint call stems from the global need to develop new materials with atomic precision that will take a step forward in the field of multifunctional design and the development of advanced materials for versatile social and industrial applications. The 9th joint call was announced on Monday May 9, 2022, on the website http://www.concert-japan.eu/spip.php?article90 with a deadline on Monday July 18, 2022 at 10:00 and with the announcement of the results in December 2022. Deadline for submission to the Department of Project Support to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz) is July 11, 2022. More information can be found on the faculty or ministry websites (in Czech).

MEYS – Call for applications for traineeships in ESO for the period 2022-2023

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) is opening a call for an internship with the international astronomical organization ESO (European Southern Observatory). It is a 12-month stay at ESO's workplace in Garching near Munich or in Chile. The internship is intended for students, scientists and engineers of relevant expertise up to 32 years of age. The participant receives a scholarship to cover living expenses. Applications must be sent to jan.burianek@msmt.cz (CC: tea.pokorna@upol.cz) by May 25, 2022. Visegrad Fund

The faculty deadline for submitting applications to the VF is May 20, 2022. Applications are submitted electronically via MyVisegrad until June 1, 2022 (12:00 CET). The system opens 20 days before the deadline. Types of grants including the conditions can be found on the faculty’s Projects website or on the Visegrad Fund website. Submit your applications to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

Interreg EUROPE – 1st call

Interreg EUROPE seeks innovative and sustainable solutions to regional development problems in order to contribute to all European priorities. The European Union and the 29 program partner countries provide up to 80% of the funding needed for cooperation. The project partners cooperate on the projects for a period of four years (three years are devoted to the exchange of experience, one year is used to monitor the results achieved). The 1st Interreg EUROPE call is open until May 31, 2022. Faculty deadline is on May 20, 2022. On the Interreg EUROPE website you will find approved projects from the previous programming period or proposals for new projects. Submit your applications to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

TA CR – TREND Program, PP1: Announcement of the 6th public tender

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) has announced the sixth public tender of the TREND Program, PP1 “Technology Leaders”. It is a selection of project proposals aimed at supporting the creation of science and research (S&R) results and their use for their own business activities in companies that already have experience in conducting research and development with their own capacities or in companies that have experience in purchasing S&R services from research organizations but have not yet developed own S&R activity. TA CR – TREND Program, PP1: Announcement of the 7th public tender

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic has announced a public tender in research and experimental development TREND – subprogram 1 – “Technology leaders” focusing on the development of 5G technologies and higher. MI – announcement of the first public tender in research, experimental development and innovation – OPSEC

The Ministry of the Interior (MI) of the Czech Republic informs about the announcement of the first public tender in research, experimental development and innovation – OPSEC. The main goal is to systematically stimulate and develop the interest of the research and innovation sphere in participating in solving security challenges for modern society and thus form the basis for the development of competitive security innovations. TA CR – TRANSPORT 2020+ Program: Announcement of the 4th public tender

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic has announced the fourth public tender in the Program for the support of applied research, experimental development and innovation in the field of transport TRANSPORT 2020+. The main goal of the program is to develop the transport sector in a way that will reflect social needs, accelerate the technological and knowledge development of the Czech Republic and thus help increase the competitiveness of the Czech Republic. MA – Research needs of the Ministry of Agriculture for public competition in research, development and innovation in 2022 (in preparation, from May 26, 2022)

The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) publishes research needs topics for the upcoming 6th public tender of the Applied Research Program for the period 2017–2025, EARTH. Research organizations are eligible to apply for the public tender from May 26, 2022.

Key areas:

  • sustainable management of natural resources,
  • sustainable agriculture and forestry,
  • sustainable food production.

MIT – OP TAK Application 2022 (in preparation, from May 2022)

MF – announcement of the 4th open call from the Bilateral Relations Fund

The Ministry of Finance (MF) – National Contact Point for the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021 has announced the fourth Open Call for Proposals for Bilateral Initiatives from the Bilateral Relations Fund under the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021. Green Talents Award

Every year, The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research announces the award "Green Talents - International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development", which supports the international exchange of ideas in the field of green solutions. Students of master's and doctoral programs, postdocs and young professionals can apply. All details, including the application, can be found at https://www.greentalents.de/. The deadline for applications is May 24, 2022.

Evaluation of courses

With the end of the semester, we would like to ask you to share your views on teaching anonymously. Take part in traditional student evaluations! Completing of the online questionnaire will take you only a few minutes and you can use it to influence the form of study programmes and courses in the future. The evaluation is carried out in an electronic form and you can evaluate until September 6, 2022.

Erasmus+ in the winter semester 2022/2023

Information on the possibilities of Erasmus + study stays for the upcoming winter semester 2022/2023 can be found on this website (in Czech).

We remind you that all student mobility must be reported in advance to Mrs. Dana Gronychová by e-mail: dana.gronychova@upol.cz. Otherwise, the trip will not be recorded in the STAG system and will not be displayed on the Diploma Supplement.

Traveling exhibition ‘The richest ecosystems on planet Earth’

From May 13, the UP Library in the Armoury hosts a traveling exhibition of author’s photographs entitled ‘The Richest Ecosystems on Planet Earth’. The educational exhibition, prepared in collaboration with the library by the Faculty of Science and the non-profit organization Justice for Nature, presents nearly fifty large-format photographs of endangered ecosystems in different parts of the world. At the same time, visitors are presented with options for their rescue.

Day of Fascination with Plants

The Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science of Palacký University will offer the public another opportunity to look into the diverse world of the plant kingdom, which will once again join the international event Day of Fascination with Plants on May 18, 2022. Visitors can admire individual representatives of carnivorous plants with various traps and prey hunting strategies. They will also get acquainted with mushrooms that cause various diseases in plants and also with mushrooms that help people in the production of food or beverages. The rich program will include the opening of an exhibition called Postcards from the Crimean Flora, which will present selected representatives of the flora of the Crimean Peninsula in the form of reproduced watercolors. The Botanical Garden will be open from 10:00 to 16:00, admission is free.

Olomouc Museum Night

On the occasion of the Olomouc Museum Night, the Faculty of Science has prepared a rich program, which includes guided tours of the main building, departments, mineralogical, petrological and paleontological collections of the Department of Geology, geopark, zoological collections, greenhouses, a walk around Olomouc's Baroque fountains. The event will take place on Friday, May 20, and visitors can also try interesting and unusual board games and puzzles from 18:00 to 21:00.

Benefit concert

The Little Noah Foundation (Nadace Malý Noe), in cooperation with the Military Hospital, is organizing a gala concert on May 20, 2022 to mark the 15th anniversary of the foundation in Klášterní Hradisko in Olomouc. Eva and Václav Hudeček will perform at the concert, which starts at 19:00. Tickets are divided into three zones for 700/400/300 CZK and can be booked by e-mail at dagmar.petrzelova@upol.cz.

Children’s Day with the Faculty of Science

We cordially invite all “faculty” children and their parents or grandparents to an afternoon full of adventure, which will take place on June 1, 2022 from 15:30 to 17:30 behind the faculty building in the Envelopa campus. A rich program is prepared for them on the occasion of International Children’s Day. The children can look forward to various competitions and games, a bouncy castle, balloon modelling or face painting. To secure rewards for children, please confirm your participation by May 23 by e-mail to magdalena.ondrusakova@upol.cz.

Palacký University Student May Festival

Another return after a two-year delay is approaching – in a few days the city will be stirred up by Olomouc Student May Festival (Majáles)! In the spirit of good tradition, everything will begin with the May Festival parade through the city and the coronation of the king – this time, actually, of the royal couple! The scepter symbolizing the supervision of our May round will be taken over by a pair of famous professional dancers: Kristýna Coufalová (Olomouc native and winner of the first season of StarDance) and Jan Tománek (choreographer, StarDance jury member and our alumnus). Olomouc May Festival will offer not only great music, theater or film performances, but also a charitable and sustainable clothing store prepared by the Sustainable University, the Sustainable Palacký Association and the Dobrodruhá Charity Store. However, in order to have something to sell and swap, we need your cooperation in advance. Let the spring wind into the closet and bring what is still nice, but you will no longer wear it, either to Dobrodruhá (Mon – Fri, 10–17), or to the Student Club in the Armoury on May 23 and 24. Earnings will go to Caritas Olomouc's transparent account for Ukraine.

Science Fair

The Science Fair will take place on June 17, 2022 from 9:00 to 15:00 in the premises of the Faculty of Science and the Fort Science.

PosPos

All faculty staff, doctoral students and seniors of the faculty are cordially invited to the “Post-Semester Gathering” (= PosPos). We will say goodbye to the summer semester on Monday, June 20 at 13:00 in the main building of the Faculty of Science.
