Dear colleagues, dear students,

the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science UP (AS FS UP) will elect a new dean on December 15, 2021. According to the approved schedule, proposals for candidates can be submitted in writing by November 16, 2021 by 12:00 through internal mail addressed to the AS FS UP. The list of candidates will be published on December 1, 2021. Seven days later, the candidates will be presented to the public at the assembly of the academic community of the faculty. The election of the dean will take place on December 15, 2021. AS FS UP elected a three-member committee for the preparation of the dean's elections, consisting of: doc. RNDr. Marek Jukl, Ph.D., doc. RNDr. Miroslav Soural, Ph.D. and Mgr. Ludmila Včelařová. The current dean doc. RNDr. Martin Kubala, Ph.D., whose first term ends, can also run for the office.

The Chairman of the AS FS UP also announces the election of two members of the Ethics Committee of the FS UP from among students and one member for the field of Mathematics and Computer Science. Proposals for candidates can be submitted according to the approved schedule until November 16, 2021 by 12:00 through internal mail addressed to AS FS UP. The list of candidates will be published on December 1, 2021, the election of members of the Ethics Committee of the FS UP will take place on December 15, 2021.

MIT – calls 2021/2022

TA ČR – Changes before concluding a contract for the provision of support
The Board of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic approved the interpretation of the directive SME-07 Change Project Management, which concerns changes prior to the conclusion of the support agreement. More in the provider's document (in Czech).

Ingerreg Central Europe
The inaugural online seminar on the First Interreg Central Europe Call will take place on November 15, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:30. It will present the key points of the Central European regions for the First Interreg Central Europe Call. Furthermore, the parties involved in the previous period will present themselves here to inspire you on how to develop project ideas and transnational partnerships. Call for applications for projects solved in cooperation with the JINR (Projects 3+3) 2022
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) announces a competition to support research and educational projects solved in cooperation with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) with the expected start of the solution in 2022 – Projects 3+3. The expected duration of project solution is a maximum of 3 years. Proposals for new projects should be submitted in English through the attached form 3+3 2022. Proposals and interim reports on project solutions are delivered by December 3, 2021 in electronic form (pdf) to the address of the MEYS (marek.vysinka@msmt.cz) and in a copy to the secretariate of the Committee for Cooperation of the Czech Republic with the JINR (dubna@ujf.cas.cz). Bilateral cooperation: scholarships Germany
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) - Scholarships for all fields

  • stays for graduates to study MSP
  • research scholarships for DSP students, postdoctoral students, researchers, graduates of MSP, exceptionally for BSP graduates
  • research, lecture and work stays for university teachers and researchers
  • new scholarships for former scholarship holders (alumni)

The length of stays and the scholarship amount varies and depends on the scholarship program, overviews of individual offers can be found here (in Czech). Detailed information on individual types of scholarships is available in the scholarship database on the DAAD website. The deadline for submitting the application is November 15, 2021. Applications are submitted electronically via the DAAD online portal, at the same time it is necessary to fill in the Proposal for sending / Application for scholarship (in Czech).

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) - scholarships for summer courses 2022
The DAAD offer also includes scholarships for summer courses, which last 3-4 weeks. An overview of the offer can be found here (in Czech), detailed information is available on the DAAD website. Applications are submitted electronically via the DAAD online portal, in the printed version they should be sent to the AIA. At the same time, it is necessary to fill in the Proposal for sending / Application for scholarship (in Czech) electronically and send it to the AIA in printed form. The deadline for submitting applications is December 1, 2021.

Scholarships of the Czech-Bavarian University Agency (BTHA) – Bavaria
BTHA offers scholarships for one-year study stays for master's and doctoral students. Scholarships are intended to finance a follow-up master's or doctoral study or a longer study stay at a Bavarian public university. An overview of information on the current BTHA scholarship offer can be found here. Detailed information and application instructions are available on the BTHA website (in Czech). Applications are sent to the BTHA office in Bavaria. At the same time, it is necessary to submit the Proposal for sending / Application for scholarship (in Czech) – a completed proposal confirmed by the university must be delivered to the AIA. The deadline for submitting applications is December 1, 2021.

Bilateral cooperation: scholarships from the Swiss government
The government of the Swiss Confederation offers a sholarship to two excellent Czech doctoral and postdoctoral students. Art students have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship for the entire master's degree. Applications are accepted by the AIA by November 16, 2021. Bilateral cooperation: Peru scholarships - forestry or agriculture
The National University of Ucayali (Universidad Nacional de Ucayali) offers 2 places for study and research stays of 3 to 9 months for students of MSP and DSP in the fields of forestry or agriculture with a special focus on agroforestry. Some of the required documents have to be submitted in Spanish. Applications are accepted by the AIA by November 19, 2021. Details of the offer can be found here (in Czech).

Bilateral cooperation: scholarships Hungary
Semester stays for students, research stays for university teachers, but also summer language courses in Hungary are offered annually by the Hungarian agency Tempus Public Foundation. BSP and MSP students are receiving a scholarship of CZK 8,500 per month, DSP students CZK 8,700 per month. Fully paid summer courses are intended for both students and teachers and a total of 12 places are reserved for the Czech Republic. Applications are accepted by the AIA by December 3. Bilateral cooperation: Northern Macedonia scholarships
BSP, MSP and DSP students can apply for study stays in Northern Macedonia of at least 2 months. University teachers/researchers are offered at least 2 places for lecture stays of up to 10 days. Applications are accepted by the AIA by December 10. Detail of the offer can be found here (in Czech).

Bilateral cooperation: Austria - scholarships for university teachers and other academic staff
AKTION (websites in Czech) Czech Republic – Austria offers a scholarship for a one-month research stay for university teachers and academics. The deadline for submitting the application is November 30, 2021. Information on scholarship stays of the AKTION program can be found here (in Czech). Scholarships at the end of the year
Scholarship applications, which have to be reimbursed in 2021, must be submitted by November 30. Applications submitted in December will be settled on January 10, and therefore already in 2022.

Ombudsman
On the initiative of student senators of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science UP, elections for the student rights defender (i.e. ombudsman) were announced. The ombudsman will act as an advisor, mediator or negotiator between students and teachers (e. g. in case of harassment or disagreements between students and teachers).

Students have nominated two pairs from among the teaching staff. The first pair consists of doc. RNDr. Taťjana Nevěčná, CSc. and doc. RNDr. Roman Kubínek, CSc., the second consists of RNDr. Ivana Fellnerová, Ph.D. a RNDr. Rostislav Vodák, Ph.D. The presentation of the candidates runs until November 15, 2021, the profiles of the candidates can be found on this website. From November 16, students can vote in an electronic poll for one of the nominated pairs. Based on the results, student senators will propose a selected pair of candidates to the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science for approval.

Organization and maintenance

Information on taking vacation
All university (FS UP) employees must take vacation in the year in which the right to it arose. Therefore, each employee should take the 2021 vacation by the end of this calendar year. The balance of the vacation to be taken is indicated on the payroll. The vacation taking is managed by the employer, therefore the application for vacation must always be approved by the head of the workplace, who may also order it.

Miscellaneous

Park of the year 2021
One of the two honourable mentions in the Park of the Year 2021 competition, organized by the Association for the Establishment and Maintenance of Greenery, was awarded to the Park of the Center for Education and Science of Palacký University in Olomouc-Holice for creating a quiet and social space. Park also scored in the Public Prize, 1901 votes secured it third place. Further details about the park and the competition can be found on the website of the Faculty of Science.

Faculty contest in blood donation
Take part in the second annual Roll up your sleeves! contest in blood donation. Come and donate blood or blood plasma at any blood donation point in the country from October 20 to February 21 and support a good cause and inter-faculty competitive spirit. The contest is mainly about the total volume of blood donated by students and employees of individual faculties and the percentage of donors among students. It is easy to join. After donating blood, you fill in a form, have it validated at the selected blood collection point and then drop it into the collection box. The contest of the faculties will last the entire winter semester, culminating during the traditional Donate Blood with the Rector event, which is an integral part of the UP Academic Days in February. The beauty of flying
The beauty of flying from the point of view of science will be the main theme of the event for the whole family, which starts in the Fort Science on November 9 at 10:00. Visitors can enjoy an exhibition of real aircraft engines and smaller aircraft models, they will experience virtual reality or take part in interesting science workshops and chemical experiments. The team of the popularization centre is cooperating on the interactive program with the Honeywell company from the village of Hlubočky near Olomouc, which this year commemorates 70 years since the beginnings of aircraft production in Central Moravia. The exhibition will run until December 12.
