TA CR – TREND Program, PP1: Announcement of the 6th public tender

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA CR) has announced the sixth public tender of the TREND Program, PP1 “Technology Leaders”. It is a selection of project proposals aimed at supporting the creation of science and research (S&R) results and their use for their own business activities in companies that already have experience in conducting research and development with their own capacities or in companies that have experience in purchasing S&R services from research organizations but have not yet developed own S&R activity. MI – announcement of the first public tender in research, experimental development and innovation – OPSEC

The Ministry of the Interior (MI) of the Czech Republic informs about the announcement of the first public tender in research, experimental development and innovation – OPSEC. The main goal is to systematically stimulate and develop the interest of the research and innovation sphere in participating in solving security challenges for modern society and thus form the basis for the development of competitive security innovations. TA CR – TRANSPORT 2020+ Program: Announcement of the 4th public tender

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic has announced the fourth public tender in the Program for the support of applied research, experimental development and innovation in the field of transport TRANSPORT 2020+.

The main goal of the program is to develop the transport sector in a way that will reflect social needs, accelerate the technological and knowledge development of the Czech Republic and thus help increase the competitiveness of the Czech Republic. MA – Research needs of the Ministry of Agriculture for public competition in research, development and innovation in 2022 (in preparation, from May 26, 2022)

The Ministry of Agriculture (MA) publishes research needs topics for the upcoming 6th public tender of the Applied Research Program for the period 2017–2025, EARTH. Research organizations are eligible to apply for the public tender from May 26, 2022.

Key areas:

  • sustainable management of natural resources,
  • sustainable agriculture and forestry,
  • sustainable food production.

MIT – OP TAK Application 2022 (in preparation, from May 2022)

The announcement of the call of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) – OP TAK Application 2022 can be expected in May 2022 with an allocation of CZK 4,000 million. MEYS – Mobilities Czech Republic-Austria/Germany/France 2023-2024

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) has announced calls for proposals for joint Czech-Austrian/German/French research projects with a solution period of 2023-2024. Call texts including forms for applicants can be found on the faculty’s Projects website or on the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (CR-AT/CR-DE/CR-FR). Faculty deadline is on May 23, 2022. Submit your applications to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

MEYS – Call for applications for traineeships in ESO for the period 2022-2023

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) is opening a call for an internship with the international astronomical organization ESO (European Southern Observatory). It is a 12-month stay at ESO's workplace in Garching near Munich or in Chile. The internship is intended for students, scientists and engineers of relevant expertise up to 32 years of age. The participant receives a scholarship to cover living expenses. Applications must be sent by May 25, 2022. For those interested in the internship, an online seminar will take place on May 19, 2022, from 15:00, where any questions will be answered. Former participants in this traineeship program, some of whom are now ESO staff, will share their experiences at the seminar. The seminar is free of charge and participation in it is not a condition for participation in the selection procedure. You can register for the seminar no later than May 16, 2022, at jan.burianek@msmt.cz. MEYS – Milada Paulová Award 2022

The intention of this year's Milada Paulová Award 2022 is to support the work of women in the field of neuroscience in the Czech research environment. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) will award the lifelong contribution of women to this scientific field in an effort to contribute to the visibility of those whose scientific work is the most important for the development of the field in the long run. Modern neurosciences study all aspects of nervous tissue, central and peripheral, its differences in health and disease, in both basic and clinical applied research, and cover several disciplines that differ in approach and subject matter. At present, neurosciences are gaining prominence in an international context, not only in relation to the basic functions of nervous tissue, but also with regard to the mechanism of its action or possible influence in connection with current attacks of either biological or social origin. The Milada Paulová Award is associated with a financial award of CZK 250,000. The nomination for the award may be submitted by an individual, a group of persons or an institution. Nomination letters must be submitted in electronic form to cena@soc.cas.cz, no later than July 20, 2022. The documents can be found on the MEYS website (in Czech).

Visegrad Fund

The faculty deadline for submitting applications to the VF is May 20, 2022. Applications are submitted electronically via MyVisegrad until June 1, 2022 (12:00 CET). The system opens 20 days before the deadline. Types of grants including the conditions can be found on the faculty’s Projects website or on the Visegrad Fund website. Submit your applications to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

Interreg EUROPE – 1st call

Interreg EUROPE seeks innovative and sustainable solutions to regional development problems in order to contribute to all European priorities. The European Union and the 29 program partner countries provide up to 80% of the funding needed for cooperation. The project partners cooperate on the projects for a period of four years (three years are devoted to the exchange of experience, one year is used to monitor the results achieved). The 1st Interreg EUROPE call is open until May 31, 2022. Faculty deadline is on May 20, 2022. On the Interreg EUROPE website you will find approved projects from the previous programming period or proposals for new projects. Submit your applications to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

Pamper Your Nature!

The Dean of the Faculty of Science announced the ninth Pamper Your Nature competition to support student projects to promote and improve the environment at the faculty. A full-time Bachelor, Master or Doctoral students at the Faculty of Science UP can participate in the competition. The prize is up to CZK 10,000! All projects must be finished and the final report submitted by June 10, 2022. Detailed conditions of the competition can be found here (in Czech).

Student Scientific Competition – Dean's Award

All students of the Faculty of Science in the sections Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Ecology, Earth Sciences and Didactics of Science can compete for extraordinary scholarships and valuable prizes. It is also possible to enrol in the poster section. The competition takes place aready on May 5, 2022. You are most welcome at the winner's ceremony, which will take place in the Assembly Hall (room 2.001) at 16:00.

The UP Endowment Fund supported four scientific talents from the Faculty of Science

Four students of the Faculty of Science received support from the Palacký University Endowment Fund. Ludmila Včelařová, Marie Pražáková, Markéta Fuksová and Adam Matěj succeeded in the Fund’s seventh call. Awarded students, who could get a maximum of 200,000 CZK, can try to manage their own project, work with top experts in the field or travel to a prestigious foreign workplace. In this year's call, the UP Endowment Fund distributed 760,000 CZK. The donor of the Endowment Fund is Komerční Banka.

Erasmus+ in the winter semester 2022/2023

Information on the possibilities of Erasmus + study stays for the upcoming winter semester 2022/2023 can be found on this website (in Czech). We remind you that all student mobility must be reported in advance to Mrs. Dana Gronychová by e-mail: dana.gronychova@upol.cz. Otherwise, the trip will not be recorded in the STAG system and will not be displayed on the Diploma Supplement.

UP Crowd

The UP Crowd student organization invites you to two interesting events. You can join the traditional regular Thursday meeting, which takes place on May 5 at The Keep Bar from 19:30 or attend a lecture from the Science Café series. Neurosurgeon David Krahulík, a specialist in paediatric neurosurgery and deep-brain stimulation, will give a lecture at the Coffee Library on Tuesday, May 10 from 18:00.

'Skilled foreigners in the Czech Republic' survey

Children’s Day with the Faculty of Science

We cordially invite all “faculty” children and their parents or grandparents to an afternoon full of adventure, which will take place on June 1, 2022 from 15:30 to 17:30 behind the faculty building in the Envelopa campus. A rich program is prepared for them on the occasion of International Children’s Day. The children can look forward to various competitions and games, a bouncy castle, balloon modelling or face painting. Student May Festival

One of the last student May Festivals (Majáles) in the Czech Republic is returning to Olomouc after three years to celebrate its tenth anniversary. At the end of May, the finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest, singer Annabelle, the band The Valentines or Michal Horák, Český slavík 21 in the Discovery of the Year category, will arrive to celebrate. The bands Circus Brothers and the Czech-American project N.O.H.A. will take care of the wild music finale. In addition, the Palacký University May Festival will offer another 40 parts of the program on five stages from May 24 to 25. Benefit concert

The Little Noah Foundation (Nadace Malý Noe), in cooperation with the Military Hospital, is organizing a gala concert on May 20, 2022 to mark the 15th anniversary of the foundation in Klášterní Hradisko in Olomouc. Eva and Václav Hudeček will perform at the concert, which starts at 19:00. Tickets are divided into three zones for 700/400/300 CZK and can be booked by e-mail at dagmar.petrzelova@upol.cz.
