International and Non-university Affairs
Mandatory reporting of mobilities
Every mobility, regardless of the source of funding and regardless of whether the student will receive credits for that, must be reported at least one month before its start to Mgr. Marie Raková at marie.rakova@upol.cz from the International section of the Student Affairs Office. Outgoing mobilities are primarily reported by students, incoming mobilities by the department. Details can be found on the faculty website.
Records of foreign guests
It is the responsibility of the department to register foreign guests. If you have international guests visiting your department, enter their information in the Portal as follows:

The Confidential Box at UP
Convenient, discreet, and anonymous if needed. If students or staff at UP are troubled by something or encounter inappropriate or problematic behavior, they now have access to the FaceUp electronic confidential reporting system. Its introduction is part of the university’s effort to create a safe, open, and fair environment.
The FaceUp Confidential Box allows you to submit reports anonymously or under your own name and is available on the university website; it also has its own tile on the UP Portal, and you can install it as an app on your phone.
When Mushrooms Become Art: The Botanical Garden Invites You to “Fantastic Mycology”
The exhibition “Fantastic mycology” will showcase mushrooms as remarkable organisms, a cultural phenomenon, and a subject close to the hearts of both Czechs and Italians. The opening of the exhibition of paintings by Italian artist Paolo Dalponte will take place tomorrow, 5 May at 5:30 PM in the Josef Otruba Hall at the Botanical Garden of the UP Faculty of Science, with the artist in attendance. Olomouc Museum Night at the Faculty of Science
During Olomouc Museum Night, which will take place on 15 May from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, visitors will be able to take guided tours of the faculty’s main building (including the foyer, terraces, and Foucault’s pendulum) as well as the zoological collections, featuring a rich collection of animal specimens and a marine aquarium (tours begin at 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM).
Visitors can look forward to a laser maze, optical illusions, and a fascinating world of light that will both surprise and confuse. If the weather permits it, the program will also include stargazing from the faculty terrace using a telescope.
There will also be spectacular chemistry experiments full of colors and reactions, encounters with carnivorous plants, and the chance to see a Foucault pendulum and enjoy views from the faculty terraces. Throughout the entire faculty, interactive stations will be set up — ranging from the microcosm to geology to modern technologies — where visitors can experience science firsthand. Detailed information here.
Run for Memory of Nations
Every year, the Run for Memory of Nations serves as a reminder of those who stood firm in difficult times, and of the fact that freedom and courage cannot be taken for granted. This year’s event (23 May) also features an inter-faculty challenge: which faculty will run the most kilometers and raise the most funds for a good cause? The most generous faculty will have the unique opportunity to nominate witnesses whose stories will be recorded by the Memory of Nations organization for future generations.
UP students and staff are eligible for a 30% discount on the entry fee — simply enter the code PARTNER30 when registering. In the “Club” field, always list your home faculty + the name of your team.
Young Scientists Conference
This traditional event will once again provide a platform for high school students who are interested in the natural sciences and wish to present the results of their work to a panel of experts and their peers.
The conference is the culmination of the Badatel program, in which students participate by developing their own project topics. However, it is also open to other high school students who want to show what they’ve been working on, what problem they’ve tackled, how they proceeded, and what results they’ve achieved. The event will take place on 29 May 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Candidate Nomination
Until 15 May 2026 any UP student or employee may submit a nomination for a candidate to deliver a lecture in honor of Prof. PhDr. Josef Ludvík Fischer. The nomination must include a brief justification; nominations should be sent to the following email address: prorektor.veda@upol.cz.
The next faculty Newsletter will be published on Monday, 18 May 2026.
