Personnel change at the Department of Project Support

As of January 1, 2022, RNDr. Marika Svrčková, Ph.D. has joined the Department of Project Support. AZV ČR – Submission of partial and final reports

Czech health research council (AZV CR) has published the deadlines for submitting partial and final reports on its website.

  • Submitting partial reports for 2021: until January 21, 2022 by 12:00
  • Submitting final reports (for projects ending on December 31, 2021): until January 31, 2022 by 12:00

Instructions for the preparation of partial and final reports are available on the website of the Czech health research council (azvcr.cz; in Czech). Reports will be sent via the UP data box. In order to meet the council’s submission deadline, make sure to provide the necessary documentation to the e-mail of the Department of Project Support officer Marika Svrčková (marika.svrckova@upol.cz, tel.: 58563 4022) no later than:

  • January 18, 2022 (Tuesday) in case of partial reports
  • January 26, 2022 (Wednesday) in case of final reports

GA ČR – Submission of partial and final reports

The deadlines for the submission of partial and final reports to the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) are approaching.

  • Submission of partial reports for the year 2021: by January 17, 2022 – faculty deadline: January 11, 2022
  • Submission of final reports: by January 31, 2022 – faculty deadline: January 25, 2022
  • Submission of partial and interim reports for the year 2021 for the EXPRO and JUNIOR STAR projects: by January 31, 2022 – faculty deadline: January 25, 2022

For reports on projects with extended solution time due to the Covid-19 pandemic:

  • For projects with an extended solution period until June 30, 2021: submission of the final report by January 31, 2022
  • For projects with an extended solution period until June 30, 2022: submission of a partial report by January 17, 2022 - faculty deadline: January 11, 2022

After generating the pdf file of the partial or final report in the GRIS application, it is necessary to keep its original name, otherwise it will not be possible to send it via the data box. The internal form of the request for signing a monitoring report on the project will be sent to all researchers and secretaries of their departments. Please, deliver the documents in a timely manner to the e-mail marika.svrckova@upol.cz, tel.: 585 634 022.

MEYS – Visegrad funds

Applications for the Visegrad fund can be submitted until February 1, 2022 (until 12:00 CET). More information on individual types of grants can be found on this website (in Czech). The application system opens 20 days before the deadline. The faculty deadline is on January 25, 2022 (delivery of a completed “zelená košilka” form (in Czech) and brief information about the project to the DPS – see the project administration manual (in Czech)). MEYS – OP JAK

On January 3, 2022, the preliminary schedule of calls for the Operational Programme Jan Amos Komenský (OP JAK) for 2022 was published. MEYS – bilateral projects in the Czech Republic – Bavaria (LUABA 22)

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) has announced a public tender in research, development and innovation LUABA22 – bilateral projects Czech Republic – Bavaria. The intention of LUABA22 is to select Czech-Bavarian joint research projects in the category of basic research, industrial research and experimental development with a solution period of max. 30 months in the following priority areas of common interest:

  • Information and communication sciences
  • Engineering and technology with emphasis on Industry 4.0 and the use of 5th generation (5G) technologies in specialization: Electronics, electrotechnics, information engineering
  • Engineering and technology in specialization: Material research, Nanotechnology
  • Medical and healthcare sciences
  • Social sciences
  • Humanities and arts

The bilateral plan of the project presupposes the simultaneous submission of the Czech and Bavarian parts of the joint project in the Czech Republic and Bavaria, respectively, in compliance with the specific conditions of the provider concerned.

The project proposal must be processed in the information system of the programme INTER-EXCELLENCE - ISIX (in Czech). The faculty deadline is on January 25, 2022 (delivery of a completed “zelená košilka” form (in Czech) and brief information about the project to the DPS – see the project administration manual (in Czech)). No later than January 25, 2022, after the project has been closed, two documents must be sent to tea.pokorna@upol.cz before submission:

MEYS – instructions for PEZ/ZAZ - INTER-EXCELLENCE

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has published instructions for the preparation of interim and final reports on INTER-EXCELLENCE program projects, including information on the organization of review proceedings. Instructions, submission deadlines and downloadable forms can be found on the provider's website (in Czech).

  • For running projects, submit the PEZ within 14 days of the review proceedings (but no later than January 26, 2022)
  • For ending projects, submit the ZAZ within 14 days of the review proceedings (but no later than January 26, 2022)
  • For running projects in their 3rd year of solution, submit a summary statement of account no later than January 26, 2022

Submit the reports and attachments together with the completed and signed "žlutá košilka" form (in Czech) to the DPS by January 26, 2022. Queries may be addressed to Ing. Tea Pokorná (tea.pokorna@upol.cz).

1st call Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE

Until February 23, 2022 (18:00 CET) the 1st call Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE is opened. More information and conditions for submitting applications for this call can be found on this website (in Czech). TA ČR – NCK Programme: Announcement of the 2nd public tender (faculty deadline: March 30, 2022)

On December 15, 2021, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA ČR) announced the second public tender to support applied research, experimental development and innovation – the National Competence Center. The tender ends on April 6, 2022.

TA ČR – TREND Programme: Announcement of preliminary parameters of the 5th public tender Technology Leaders, PP1 (postponed to 1Q 2022)

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic informs about the preparation of the 5th public tender of the programme of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to support industrial research and experimental development TREND, subprogram 1 "Technological leaders". The announcement date of December 22, 2021 has currently been postponed to 1Q 2022.

TA ČR – provisional budget and its impact on supported projects

The Technology Agency of the Czech Republic informs the recipients about the impact of the so-called provisional budget on projects in the implementation phase, for which the TA ČR is a provider of support, and which have been supported within the framework of public tenders and international calls. As the Act on the State Budget of the Czech Republic for 2022 has not yet been approved, the Czech Republic will most likely operate under a provisional budget regime from January 2022, which will also affect the provision of support for 2022. L’Oréal-UNESCO For women in Science

We would like to inform you about the launch of applications for the 16th year of the L’Oréal-UNESCO talent programme For Women in Science, which supports young promising scientists worldwide. In the Czech Republic, the program is organized by the L’Oréal company, the Czech Commission for UNESCO and the Czech Academy of Sciences. Each year, an expert jury will select three scientists who will share CZK 600,000. They can use the financial reward directly or indirectly to support their careers. The condition for participation is obtaining the Ph.D. degree from inanimate or living sciences, and age up to 40 years (reaching the age limit by October 31, 2022). The application form can be filled in at the link https://www.forwomeninscience.com/challenge/show/33. You can submit your project until February 28, 2022.

Erasmus+ student mobilities

The Faculty of Science has launched selection procedures for student mobility in the Erasmus+ programme for the academic year 2022/2023. More information can be found with the department coordinators and in the electronic application at https://erasmusplus.upol.cz/.

Bilateral cooperation: scholarships Greece

Academic staff can apply for 6 places for study and research stays in Greece with the duration for a maximum of 1 week. The amount of the scholarship for the participant is 110 EUR per day. The stay must take place during the calendar year 2022. Applications are accepted by the AIA by January 12, 2022. Details of the offer can be found here (in Czech).

Bilateral cooperation: summer schools in Latvia

The Latvian Ministry of Education and Science offers university students and teachers 2 scholarship places at summer schools for a period of 1 month. The courses are field-oriented and take place in English. Applications are accepted by the AIA by January 31, 2022. Bilateral cooperation: summer courses in Romania

University students and teachers can take up to four places at summer language schools in Romania, usually organized by universities in the cities of Craiova, Constanta, Iasi and Timisoara. The length of stay is 1 month. Applications are accepted by the AIA by January 31, 2022. Details of the offer can be found in the scholarship search engine here (in Czech).

Bilateral cooperation: summer courses in Poland

Poland offers participation in summer Polish language and culture courses lasting 3 weeks. Students of Polish or Central European studies focused on Poland, or academic staff from the mentioned fields, can apply. There are 12 places available. Applications are accepted by the AIA by February 16, 2022. Further information on the scholarship offer can be found here (in Czech).

Bilateral cooperation: scholarships Slovakia

The Slovak Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports offers scholarships for study stays for Master and Doctoral students lasting 3 to 10 months, and lecture and research stays for university teachers and academic staff for a maximum of 2 weeks. Applications are accepted by the AIA by February 18, 2022. Details of the offers can be found in the scholarship search engine here (in Czech).

Bilateral cooperation: scholarships Poland

Academic staff and university students (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral) can go on study and research stays in Poland. The length of stay is 1 to 5 months for academic staff and 2 to 10 months for students. Applications are accepted by the AIA by February 24, 2022. Bilateral cooperation: Germany – DAAD scholarships for study trips of a group of students

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for group trips of students accompanied by university teachers lasting 7 to 12 days. An overview of information on this scholarship offer can be found here (in German). Applications are submitted online through the DAAD portal by February 1, 2022.

Robitschek Scholarship: scholarships for Czech students to study at the University of Nebraska

Univesity of Nebraska in Lincoln offers scholarships for talented Czech and Slovak students, which will allow them to spend up to two semesters studying overseas. Admission is decided by the result of the selection procedure, in which the candidate demonstrates the necessary level of knowledge of English, academic prerequisites, experience in leading teams and the determination to pursue an academic or other career in the Czech Republic. Applicants can read the information on the selection procedure on the university's website. Applications should be submitted by March 1.

Scholarships for school assistants in Saxony (Germany)

MEYS, in cooperation with the Saxon Ministry of Culture, offers scholarships for Czech language teaching assistants at schools in Saxony. Last year students and recent graduates of pedagogical faculties in the fields of Czech-German (combination) or primary school teachers with knowledge of German (minimum B1) can apply. The stays last from the beginning of September 2022 to the end of May 2023. Applications should be submitted to the MEYS until March 31. More information can be found here (in Czech).

Ombudsman

The Academic Senate of the UP Faculty of Science has elected doc. RNDr. Taťjana Nevěčná, CSc., and doc. RNDr. Roman Kubínek, CSc., in a secret ballot as the Faculty of Science’s student rights defenders (obmudsmen) with a term of office from December 16, 2021 to December 15, 2024. Evaluation of courses

Give us feedback for the winter semester! One of the main tools for evaluating the quality of the educational process is the evaluation of courses. Until February 14, 2022, it is possible to evaluate the quality of teaching at www.eval.upol.cz and thus give feedback to the teacher, the head of the department and the management of the faculty. They all can continuously improve the quality of teaching thanks to the information obtained during the evaluation. Feedback is important not only for improving pedagogical activities, but also contributes to open communication at the faculty and to improving education.

Via Chimica Prize

Sometimes, a world-changing discovery can be down to just one university student. This is one of the reasons why the Via Chimica Prize came into existence. The Prize is awarded to talented Czech chemistry students by the Experientia Foundation in cooperation with the Learned Society of the Czech Republic. Students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in the Czech Republic and have created an original work in the field of chemistry can enter the competition. The deadline for submitting applications is on January 31, 2022. The winner of the Via Chimica Prize, who will be selected by a joint review committee of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic and the Experientia Foundation, will receive a personal award of CZK 50,000 from the Experientia Foundation. Organization and Maintenance

Employee testing on Covid-19

In the week from January 10 to 14, 2022, mandatory testing applies to employees who do not fall under the exemption. Other employees may be tested voluntarily.

As of January 17, 2022, the testing rules change, with each employee having to be tested twice a week. The information concerns employees in employment relationshop and those cooperating on Agreement to complete a job/Agreement to complete work (in Czech DPP/DPČ). At the Faculty of Science, testing will be provided centrally from Monday to Friday, both in the main building on 17. listopadu 12 and in the Holice campus. All employees will be informed of the details in the coming days via group email.

Miscellaneous

Open Day

The university’s Open Day will take place already this Saturday! For visitors an interesting online programme with a number of novelties is prepared, including information streams, chat platforms, videos and podcasts. Through 3D tours and videos, it will also be possible to visit dormitories, a library, canteens or the Fort Science. Faculty contest in blood donation

Until February 21, 2022, you can take part in the second annual Roll up your sleeves! contest in free blood donation. Come and donate blood or blood plasma at any blood donation point in the country and support a good cause and inter-faculty competitive spirit. The contest is mainly about the total volume of blood donated by students and employees of individual faculties and the percentage of donors among students. It is easy to join. After donating blood, you fill in a form, have it validated at the selected blood collection point and then drop it into the collection box. The contest of the faculties will last the entire winter semester, culminating during the traditional Donate Blood with the Rector event, which is an integral part of the UP Academic Days in February. The contest is organized by the Student Association of the UP Faculty of Physical Education in cooperation with the UP Communications Office and the Transfusion Department of the University Hospital Olomouc.
